I'm building a FF .21 I got the speedmaster VM3 round bottom strut in today but it seems very

large for this boat I think I'm going to return it for the VM1. What have you guys been running?

I'm also a little bit confused on what I need for a strut bushing and a stuffing tube, I will be running a 3/16 cable.

I need to know what size brass tubing to get and how everything goes together.

What kind of speed can i expect to get with an OS RG.21 in the FF.

Any feedback will be greatly appreciated Thanks

You could get a big debate going on stuffing tubes. Two methods really. Brass on brass and teflon lined. I've seen fast boats with both. Lately myself I have been using the ready made teflon lined tubes from I believe it is aeromarine with led teflons.

I can't remember what is the right strut number is just know by looking at them. I'm sure someone will know.... little help here....

We used to use lead Teflon bushings in the struts but now Bill McGraw has a brass insert that is slotted to help hold grease in better and is easy to insert and remove.

Yeah, we've seen the Teflon or no Teflon tubing discussion before so I'm not touching that one either. I'm trying both right now.

VM1 is the strut you want. The OS RG will be a good motor for the hull, I do not know what the speed will be.

Order a strut bushing with the VM1, then pick up some brass tubing that fits into the strut for stuffing tube.

1/4 in. brass tubing is what you want. and the RG will be a good reliable motor for that boat, but you will not see the speed out of it that you will out of other motors. it will definately be more reliable and turn key with an O.S.

FF21 + Nova + SPP OB or TD pipe + VM1 strut (bushed) + H4 + mini rudder = Fun.

First runs from a recent boat were very fast out of the box! The nova pushed it well over 60. Then it went on to win the Ausie Nationals!

be sure to follow Toms set ups exactly. the only downside is the top and bottom skins are a bit thin so for

longivety glass the engine bay with light cloth.

i was so impressed with mine, tims and kens i have just ordered another one.

Top job Tom
