Just wondering if anyone out there has built this rigger? I downloaded the plans a few weeks ago and I'm thinking of building it. Any words of advise? How does it run? From the looks of the plans it seems rather easy to build and not too much labor intensive. I'll be using either an OS 21 or a K&B 21. Any info. would greatly be appreciated. Hope its warm and dry where you are.

Gee, no one in here has ever heard of it! :D :D :D Our own Fearless Leader, Tom Moorehouse designed and raced this boat. From the word of people who have seen it run, it's not a bad boat!

Oh yeah, another winter weather advisory in effect now........................

the current version is not available for download that i know of..... i sure hope not!

the old version..... I would not recommend building i had a lot of trouble with it.... it was a VERY experimental design for me that I never got working right.

Tom is the kit for the .21 out yet?

(Nice to see your kits in the RCBM buyers guide!)

RC pilot,

Tom has a rigger kit for a .12 to .18 right now and the price is very nice! I'm sure the .21 isn't too much more. I built a few boats from plans and can say that nothing beats laser cut parts! :p

the .21 boat is ready..... all that is left are the instructions

the ff.12 does not come with hardware. i did not think it made sense to include hardware when most people have their own ideas as to what to use..... it would just make the kit unnecessarily more expensive....

for the .12?

depends on what you want to use it for.....

octura works well. the 3-30 motor mount is a perfect fit (designed it that way).

i used speedmaster myself..... overkill i think.

the fullers stuff is good but you need the cat strut as that standard is a little to short.

My Fire Fighter .12 is supposed to ship from Climate today -I will take a ton of pictures of the build as soon as it gets here. If only Canada was closer to Texas... But then my pond would be frozen

Hey Tom,

Do you think that adding a cowl to the FF .21 that covers the motor would change the design of the boat and the way it performs? Just thinking about covering the carb on the mac.

Mike

i dont think ive ever seen a .21 that could not use a little more downforce ;) should be fine

Thanks for the advise Tom. Hope your 21 rigger kit comes out soon. Have you decided on a price? Keep us informed. Hope it warm and dry where you are. :D

The speed of a .12 'rigger is going to depend on a lot of things. Which motor, prop, pipe, fuel, weight and too many others factors. I've had the Hammerhead .12 over 50 so far with a long way to go yet with the Trinity/Picco/NR in it on 50% and an Octura V937 prop. It now has another motor in it and maybe a 3rd by the time it hits that water again in the Spring. Tom's FF.12 is supposedly hitting higher speeds than mine. We might have to find out this year!
