Finding a lost boat with a Fish Finder.

We lost a boat at our Can-Am a couple weeks ago and had a heck of a time finding it even though we knew right where it went down in about 18'.

Vis on the bottom was basically zero according to the divers. Searched a couple hours two separate days and nadda. Then NLMBC club member Jay Moffatt said he heard a fish finder works, since the bottom was flat and featureless I thought it might be worth a shot.

Picked up an all-in-one Hummingbird 120 "fishin buddy" http://www.humminbird.com/Products/120-Fishin-Buddy/ and with a little searching it pointed us right to it.

If you can find an old Hummingbird 4ID fish finder, they have good resolution

There were settings that concentrated on the bottom "landscape" which I used, also there were no stumps etc on the bottom which helped.

I found if I moved too fast it wouldn't pick up much so I went upwind from where I wanted to scan, cut the motor and drifted along. It showed up as a grey "lump" on the otherwise clean bottom.
