I’m really happy with these hulls but boy I can’t wait to be done with them. Put the first coat of primer on the second hull. Like always, I have a few things to address then can finally paint them!

Just out of curiosity. Are the vents on the top decks legal in Gas Scale?
I read the rules for both IMPBA and NAMBA and can’t find anything suggesting that they are not.

luckily if it were ever to be a problem, it’s an easy fix. However, if I was told that I couldn’t have the vents and my boat got burnt up, I might be a little upset! Safety first!

Nice. Is that 2 part primer? looks smooth ..
Yes high build 4 to 1 auto primer. In these pics both hulls have been wet sanded also. From the back, the one on the right has two coats and is just about ready for paint. The one on the left has one coat and has a little touching up needed, nothing big just minor stuff and then will get a final coat of primer.

Chris the full size 8255's had holes in the back of the cowling to help get heat out of the inside of the boat. The smaller holes were vents and the larger holes were actually for putting a fire extinguisher nozzle inside the cowling. From the photos I have the blue boat is pretty accurate as far as location goes.

Mike that is a beauty, is it 1/8 or 1/6th scale?
My two hulls are 1/6th scale and will both have steel pipes, they get really hot in the open. I have concerns about air flow and heat in such a small space. I’m concerned with the epoxy, paint and wood so that’s why I ended up cutting the vents like I did. I also just cut them on the lid that I made so if for some reason it’s a big deal to someone it would be an easy fix to replace the cover.
