Sounds great My father in law my self and my son once raced on FATHERSDAY yep my son spanked us. The most memorable moments in all of racing came when i raced with my son, even back to back NATS consourse scale wins were not like the feeling of seeing my son race. GET OUT OF SCHOOL SO WE CAN RACE AGAIN!!!!!!!!

Of course, Father and Son Roger Hooks Jr. and Sr. will be in the house.

One of my most memorable moments is when I was chasing down the Sport 40 II record set by Mark Anderson with Roy Munoz several years ago. Dad was tuning and tweaking trying to shave off a few seconds at a time while I was driving the fastest laps I thought I possibly could heat after heat. In the 3rd round Roy went out and beat the record by just about second. After three heats of racing and an improvement of about 6 seconds over the course of the day I was still 2 or 3 seconds off the pace. Going into the fourth and final round Dad said he was fresh out of ideas... I told him it was okay... the rest was up to me. Long story short, I made up the time plus one to give me the record. I was so happy to be able to deliver after dad put in so much time and effort.

It will be good to see Brad out again. He put on quite a show in C mono when I last saw him. Give 'em something with a little more meat on it's bones like a Gas Sport Hydro.

He is very excited to be racing again. I entered my gas whip... maybe we'll run it together.

Hey Roger at that time I wasn't aware that I had broken the record I was just trying to stay in front of you..I knew if I gave you an inch you take a mile...You were right on those bouys I think you rubbed the paint off them..hahahahaa That was a fun day for sure...

So Roy...

You think your son Peter may come out and race also?

On another note...

Any other Father and Son teams out there? Doesn't matter if you coming to the GPC or not. Just want to know who's out there passing on the torch.

No Peter will be not be going to the GPC...Maybe some other Year..

My son starting racing with me back when I raced trucks at 6 and started bringing home trophies back then. I started him off racing boats at 12 and got a 3rd place his first race with a .21 OB tunnel. He can drive any boat that I have, maybe better than old Dad.

My wife has also raced trucks and boats.

Ron, My son Peter started racing at 12 too back in 82..Now he's 38..Stop'ed afew years ago and started doing Home brewing. and has entered his beers at State and county contest..And has won some Gold and silver and bronze..Also has become a judge in brewing contest around the state here in Cal.. Still likes model boating but this takes up alot of his time..Plus the Beer club that he the Perz of...

My youngest son, James and I have almost nothing in common except for racing RC boats. I decided to get back into it 2 years ago and never in my wildest dreams thought he would be even remotely interested. He wanted to try it and I found he was a natural. This will be his 3rd year and we are both looking forward to it. Everybody has welcomed him in and he feels like one of the guys. He even beat his ol man a few times. He is at that age where most kids are going off and doing other things with their buddies and he does that, but he still finds time to go racing with his ol man and that's way kool with me.

I rarely attend a race without my son & daughter racing with me. My son races a 20 tunnel & my daughter races a 20 mono.

I'm very excited to race against my older son again. our district is very family oriented, with many great young racers keeping our district sharp. It all starts with the kids r boaters class. My best memories are from helping all the kids race better. At one point I had a junior boater and 3 kids r boaters racing. what a gas, I was pit guy on saturdays in those days.

Roger,

Racing is a family affair for the Huff's... Me, Mom, Dad, and my younger Bro' all race... Between us we run 10 gas boats in DXIII. My youngest brother has no interest in racing, but he does show up every year for the Spring Nats to help out in the retrieve boat or on the CD stand. It's a great way for us all to spend time together.

I know of a lot more but they just haven't seen this thread yet.

If this was in the general forum I'd think that you'd get a lot more responses.

I ran my first boat as a 9 year old in 1974, in San Diego, CA. It was a Skidaddle with a Veco 19 and a Kraft radio. I routinely got my but kick by Ralph Henry who was racing a Northwind. Back when mono's were really mono's.

My Dad built , maintained and paid for me to race with him. We raced, my younger brother included, together for almost 13 years before I got out of it. We attended many Nationas and every District race together. Many, many great memories and friends were made.

I started back up into boats about 4 years ago with my son who was 9 at the time and my daughter who was 12 at the time. My brother also races with his 2 boys.

We travel to all the races as a family which includes my wife and all 4 kids.( 2 more kids that will start racing soon).

We are trying to get my Dad to race a boat in this years NAMBA Nats. Then it will be three generations of boaters at the same race. HOW COOL will that be. Grandpa, his 2 boys and 4 grandchildren all together enjoying the best hobby in the world.

That's a cool story... and one of the many reasons I like this Hobby/sport. Where else... can Grandpa compete with Grand Daughter, have a good time and each have the same chance at winning?

Hey Roger, I was planing on that as a matter of fact. Maybe as a team. He always says he wants to. We haven't run a class as a team before... That would be fun.

Bob

We acually have four 3 gen families in D9. The Osman family, the Mcnight family, Peck family, and the Hendrickson family. Pretty cool... sounds like great family fun for everyone!!

buy a boat... Bob
