I'm bidding on this hull for a friend.....It looks familiar to me, but I can't recall any details.

Does anyone in here know anything about this boat? (aside from problems with the setup or wise cracks) ;)

It's a speedmaster boat designed by Chris Fabro of Microbroburst fame and sold through Speedmaster products. It's a very competitive hull and will easily dice it up with the seaducer boats.

Can someone tell what Chris's web site is ?

Is anyone familiar with the boat in the picture? The boat being sold by Hammerdown,? the boat being sold On E-bay? The boat that is claimed as new, or any other pertinent facts?

It's not the current version of the Speedmaster. The current version has a differant bottom and deck.

any chance you're familliar with the boat being sold on Ebay?

the one being represented as "almost new" equipment? have you seen this particular boat at a pond near you?

You can contact Chris at this email [email protected] website is....www.capehornboats.com...He designs and builds full size boats under the name of Cape horn boats, but the website makes no mention of his R/C line. Mention that Keith's brother Tim turned you on to his address and I'm sure he'll tell you all about it. He sold the Microburst line to Reptile boats some time ago and this little 20 hull is the only one he manufactures now although he has a 40 size that is in very limited production. The 40 boat was clocked by radar at 63 mph in heat race trim. The boat in question looks to have all the required hardware manufactured by speedmaster especially for this hull on it. I am very familiar with this design as I am a personal friend of Chris's. Andy Brown is familiar with this boat too as we all live in NW Florida. Hope this helps. If your buddy wins the auction, he won't be dissapointed with the performance of the boat. ;) BTW, where do you get those cool smilies?

I have one of the early ones that my son races, we really like it. Joe has the newer version with the shallow deck channel on it which made it easier to put a MAC engine in them because like this one it allowed water to get into the carb. It would be a god buy except I'd get rid of the trim tabs, mine doesn't need them.

Almost new could mean about anything including never raced before.

I’m sorry fellas….it must be me…….I must not have been asking the question correctly so I’ll follow up:

Assuming you guys knew that I have a speedmaster that I purchased from Bill, and that I’m familiar with current models. Is there anyone familiar with Hammerdown’s boat that is being represented as “almost new” equipment on E-bay?

How’s that

I run mine with a mac and it doesnt need trimtabs like Ron says :D

Looks like it may be the first version. But that is not a bad thing as Bill from speedmaster ( our club member ) races one and it's bad to the bone. I also have one and love it. Main thing is the engine. See if the guy will tell you what year is stamped on the bottom of the mounting lug on the engine. That wil give you a better idea when it was made. As for how much it has been run, well good luck. It's no fun getting taken for a ride. Been there , done that.

KB,

I feel for you bud - seems like a pretty plain question to me!

All,

He wants to know if anyone on this forum has seen that exact boat that is for sale - not speedmasters in general!

Tim.

Let me try. "Hammerdown" the owner of the boat, is Larry Grosser from Columbia, Md. Larry recently retired & has REALLY gotten into boats, he went out & just bought tons of stuff until he found his niche' in the boating world. I know Larry personally & if he says it's like new it probably is & may have not even gotten wet yet. Is this the answer you were looking for??

Good cause I'm all out of bullets at the moment...............

.....think they got used on the Roostertail thread.

Thanks Don!

Don’t feel bad fellas…..I’m finding lots of entertainment value in this post, and its responses.

For a while I was trying to figure out if these guys were screwing with me….
