glenn, the 2 biggest reasons i still use the 7 are that my son gave it to me & it's a tack driver. my best 3 shot group at 100 yds. is right at 3/4". thats with 150 gr. standard remington coreloc ammo. it also doesn't seem to care what i feed it. sight it in with the rem's, still holds the same zero with 140 gr. winchester silvertips. black synthetic stock, black action & barrel, **** good hunting rifle. shooting the 140 gr. ballistic tips doesn't tear up much meat, usually pass's right through on a chest shot, unless i hit a shoulder bone. then it's a mess......Gave up on the belted mags long ago Robin-too destructive. The .270 is a fine round for up to Elk size critters as is the .308 and 30-06 my latest favorite- a custom made 260 Remington with a 140 Gr. lead pill.& that's on florida deer, glenn!! i've owned dogs bigger than a lot of the deer in fla.  . i lived & hunted in n. fla., about 80 miles west of zach, i know how small they are . there are some good deer down there, just few & far between. i use a 7mm rem. mag up here, & i'm still overgunned....i want a .270 , just about ideal for around here, imo B) .B)
Hit em in the hams with that Zack and you may have enough left to make a pot of soup :lol:Waiting on rifle season to open up November the 14th. Got the 300win mag ready to roll. Some 230 hpbt's loaded up and the bonfire pile is almost tall enough!
