Is that cowl/dummy engine configuration correct?

You Bet! Roger wouldn't want it any other way! ;)

Wow, for sure ahead of its time. Round nose with cockpit in front of engine. Rare......

The boat proved to be the death boat for Bardahl. It was undefeated as it won it's first heat at the 1966 President's Cup. On the second heat it nosed in when the prop broke and pretzeled the drive line. Unfortunately there was only five feet of water where the boat hit and so driver Ron Musson died. Later that same day two more driver's died, including Ole Bardahl's son-in-law Rex Manchester. Making it the worst day in unlimited history. The only other round nose cabover was the Thriftway Too built in 1956. Oh, and I guess the Mariner Too Turbine although it never raced.

The boat has always captured the fascintation of hydro fans. Essentially the same design, but with a pickle fork became the basis for the 1969 Pay N Pak. That boat and many others like it were highly suceesful in the early 1970's, although they were converted to driver in the rear type boats.
