what the differents between the motors that fast electic guy use and let say the dewalt 18 volt drill motor if it was removed from the caseing, just something that crossed my mind.

ps- stop laughing.

Hey Jeff, The dewalt 18Volt motor has been tested and didn't work out. The 700 brushed size motors are basically drill motors on steriods. These make good spec class motors but will not be competitive in an open motor(brushless) class.

hey pete they are if you let them run 16 cells - they rip

I have run this style dewalt with great results. The motor is well built for the money.

OK, sorry but there's really no place for it in FE Racing, but good for a sport hull :D

Jeff the difference is

* most motor are now brushless except where a 700 motor is specified (its the same type as the dewalt)

* brushless mottos use electronic commutation provided by the esc.

* the motors themselves use high strength Neodymium magnets and are characterised by high torque and higher power. For their outputs they are relatively light . They also avoid the relaively low rpm limits brushgear impose on brushed motors
