Today I received an authentic looking e-mail from EBAY requesting that I go to an included link and re-enter all my account information or my account would be "suspended". Since I was immediately suspicious that they were asking for my personal information, I did not reply. After notifying EBAY it was verified that this was indeed a scam e-mail! BEWARE...

That scam has been going around for a while. If you want to see a lot more, go to www.419eater.com for more e-mail and now snail-mail scams.

Russel, That's exactly what I did. I haven't been doing much on EBAY the last year or so, maybe that's why it took a while to get to me.

I receive several of these per week. All you need to do is put the mouse pointer over the link in the email and you can see that they don't point to the right place. They've gotten smarter recently and part of the domain name includes something to make it appear legit, but when you look carefully, it's not quite right.

The bottom line is if you get ANY email from eBay, Paypal, financial institution, etc that includes a link to click on, you most likely should NOT click the link. Instead, you should use a bookmarked link or one you know is correct. I even do this for auction payments now. Rather than clicking on the link that shows up in the email I go to eBay or Paypal and initiate the payment there.
