Eagle SG Restoration project

I bought this Eagle second hand with the intent of running it as a SAW boat back around 2005. I shoehorned a 91HR motor and with a little help from the “Amigos” I was making decent passes in the 90’s and eventually flipped and broke the hull almost in 2 right at the bulkhead. Andy repaired the hull, but it still showed the scars. I eventually built a SAW boat and shelved this one. A couple months ago I decided to clean it up and repaint it with the goal of having a quick TT practice boat to run laps with. Pretty happy with how it turned out. Current plan is to run a 91HR or 91VAC and do some testing to find a good pipe and prop. Also need to find a replacement cowl as the old one was just too beat up.

The zip kits cowles will work. AB bilet pipe and a cupped up 1667. A 13 cc MACS pipe with the stinger opend up to .470 works good to.

The MACS 13 cc with the stinger opened up to .470 at 11" will rev to the moon with the right cup on a 1667.
Also the MUCK pipe I am told is a hot set up.
Never had one my self to test but bin told it is the cats meow.
You will need to weld that AB pipe it will come un screwed.

The ABC 2717-19-38 is also a good prop to test with.
Try it as is first then take some off the trailing edge if it loads up to much.

You can get a cowl out of Andy no problem. Donna makes those….. boat looks great !

I would think red Loctite would work on the AB pipe.

The billet pipe with the short muffler has JB welded joints throughout and the pipe with the long muffler seen in the background has the first 2 sections welded and the other's JB welded. I have not had any issues since, but I also don't run them too much anymore since they cannot be easily replaced.

Got a chance to run this boat on Saturday and was pretty happy with the results although the test did not last long due to a fuel tank seam ripping wide open. I ran the Nova 67 Pipe at 12" with a pitched up 1667. I need to pull a shim out of the fronts to tame the front end, but otherwise this eagle will fly nicely.

Always a good day when old Eagles are made new again, I have many favorite Eagles but as for the one that makes my hair stand on end is the big block beasts, nothing quite like unleashing them on the lake and scaring the spectators with that raw power and speed!!!!! Punch it Chewy!

Hi Grim,
No I just use a small hand pump to fill the tank. This one only holds 12oz compared to the 24oz big block tanks hold in the newer boats. This 91VAC does not have a slugged crank yet and does shake pretty bad so I suspect it was the vibration that killed it. I'll go back to a metal tank for future testing.

Got a new tank and headed back to the test pond this time with a GoPro mounted to the nose. Pretty happy with the way it runs for a TT practice boat. This is 50% with the Nova 67 pipe and a 1667 cupped to 5.6". Still needs more load, but didn't touch the plug. Audio tach shows around 22kRPM.

I have one of those billet pipes with the muffler somewhere... for a .67 I think.... just need to find it. I have stuff strewn between my house and two storage units, Dallas to Houston.

I really like that pipe too, Andy made some cool stuff!

BTW, nice video!! It was flying!!
Gives you a new perspective of how far the prop thrust is still visible behind the boat..

It's a GoPro Session 5. They are about 1.5" cubed.

Try the 13 cc pipe with the stinger opened up to .470 set at 11"
That is the one with no flat band.
forget about cup shorten the pipe and give it more volume first.
