Don,

As much or as little as we agree, the point to all of this is that those with slower boats should be as courteous as possible by following the rules and/or guidance given by the CD.

THAT is what makes for good sportsmanship and fun racing.

Let me ask this.. Of the boats hit, did color play a factor in it? At one race, I nearly hit another boat.. Guy was a bit upset. When he inquired why, I asked where his boat was. I couldn't see it.. Since it was totally black. My spotter failed to see the boat also.

Thanks for all that have put information down.. It will help greatly if Mary and I get back into racing.. Need a club near by to do so...

Mark..

I think the color makes a big differance. Until last summer, all of my boats were bright colors. My Speedmaster 21 is black and white and on some ponds, it's nearly impossible to see. I figure if it gets hit, I had it coming.

But it looks good!

To my opinion ,

I've seen ( or just haven't seen ) boats laying still with all kinds of colors ,

red with yellow , blue with yellow , etc etc , sometimes u can see them , and sometimes u just can't , it all depends on how the sun stands , how the shadows are , etc cloudy or not

One thing i do know , boats with several contrasting colors are i believe better to see .

Black , hmm yea , its a hard color too see sometimes , though im gonna paint my boat in antracite black ( top deck , silver letters ) , bottom lemon yellow .

After some long thinking about it , wether they gonna crash on my yellow boat , or on my black boat , i always loved black so .... i went for black.

Another thing , yellow & red ( or blue , green ) are i think the most common colors in boating , after some while it gets annoying to have lots of "similar " boats , i went for the sort of original colors ( altho some people do have black boats in fsr V )

regards ,

Bart

LOL seems like Joe and me are having the same thinking ,

If ( or u can read , when ) they are gonna crash on ours , we sure had a nice black boat LOL
