Well, with nine days left I'll do my best.

If someone can let Andy know, i'm sure he'll enter his Mod-VP, Culhane too. I know Mic has one as well.

I entered X-Mono last night Bill but after some thought, I just can't make it happen right now. Not for lack of desire too

The motor is still apart and waiting on bearing $$ and the Mod VP is running a borrowed motor I have yet to have to play with and get a handle on.

It would be interested in running Mod VP at a future 2 day race though. Now if we could talk em into letting us run Tri-Oval too ....

I will be out to lend a hand where I can on Sunday though.

Marty,

You are correct there is not an even split between gas and nitro so some gas classes would have to be run each day. Under the current format they are there anyway. If you looked at some gas classes maybe some drivers would get a break. The largest gas classes are mono & cats so if it worked out just running one on the nitro day that entire class would be done and many who run both could have two more laid back days. Also alternating the first or second day would be good so just one group would not just be always on the same day. Some people might change entries to run certain days.

Take a look at a couple already run races and see what the heat numbers wind up at.

running all the off shore at the end of one day should solve this problem. also would save changing the coarse so much a time saver right there.

I just roughly added up heats at three recent 2 day races

Brandon 20 nitro 12 gas but was the twin nitro shootout race.

Tampa 13 nitro and 16 gas

West Palm Beach 13 nitro and 10 gas.

I was surprised but Miami and Broward were not availiable and they would have more on the gas side.

Even at 20 heats thats 2.5 every hour at a 8 hour race. This is very doable.

At 3 heat an hour it would make for a nice day in the retrieve boat for a change. :D

I agree with David about having offshore at the end of the day because it takes so much time to run those heats.

One reason I stopped 2 days was money on hotel or driving back home and at this point each is pretty much just as costly. One days are much more doable for me than 2 days. The other reason is that some of the classes I run just aren't getting enough boats for me to be interested! I dont care for a 3, 4 or 5 boat class. I really miss the days when we had 20 or more boats in all the Nitro classes.

David,

That was heats in a round so 20X4=80 and not doable in one day. A couple classes would need to be moved in that race. With only 12 gas that would be a short day. 32 heats in a round is a pretty busy weekend. If races were limited to the first 30 rounds that signed up people would definately not wait as long to register. Have to up the 3 boat minimum so classes would not be so small. Say 5 boats to secure a class. I agree with Ron 3-5 boat classes are not as challenging. Just some ideas for discussion.

Let's look at this from the perspective of running an event.. Everyone who HAS ran an event will understand this.

Some of what is written on this thread may be possible; however, consider that the idea of running a good district race is to pull off as many heats on Saturday as possible.. no matter if they are gas, nitro, electric and or whatever super new class anyone can dream up and get on the schedule.

The idea is to get everyone done as early on Sunday as possilbe. It makes it easier on the folks who have to drive home, and the hosting club.

The magic number for any two day race hovers at around 200 boats and if a club can pull it off you want to shoot for 7 to 8 heats per hour average for the weekend, (yes it can be done).

Food for Thought

It really boils down to 3 factors for me , Time , Money and most of all Desire . I'm away this weekend and the weekend of the 20th both weekends are 200.00 - 300.00 with gas ,oil , beverages etc . i still may go but it will be up to the wire . Garage is 1000 degrees when i get home from work ........pool or boat are other choices . Just my situation . The lake is awesome and the club has worked hard to prepare for the race ...and it's very close to me . Signed , Head Procrastinator ! :)

We have been given permission from the commercial property to the South of our lake to Overnight Park Motorhomes, etc for the race. The parking lot is directly to the South of our lake property. Contact Tony Gomez when you arrive at the race site to park in that parking lot overnight.

This is great news for those who have wanted to be able to park overnight for the St Petersburg Races.

Any questions, contact me via IM.
