Where are all the entries for the St Pete Race?

It would be a shame to cancel this race.....

Where are all the tunnels
i think with this RC racing events website everbody starts to panic because we can all check online to see whos entered...but what you guys dont realize is most

people wait til the last minute to enter...its been the same trend for the last 5 races...

I've noticed this trend myself.

Another thing I think the Tampa club has overlooked since they have been out of the loop for the last year or two is the 'newer' classes that the other local clubs have been running but they are not offering.

45 Outlaw Tunnel

P-Spec Tunnel

Mod-VP

Open Tunnel

Unless they start offering these classes, they will not see me at their races as I don't run the 20 stock and 20 mod tunnel classes anymore.

Bill:

I just added these classes. Let's see if you can find some people to enter these classes. If so, we will run them.

I think there are a few things going on here. RCracingevents is a great tool for race organizers and racers both. The fact that people procrastinate and wait till the last minute is too bad. Being able to see whos comming and in what class can also build interest. The economy and maybe some working Saturdays that they didn't have too before, plus needing a nights stay in a hotel may defer a few, or be the straw that breaks the deal. That and I just don't want to run boats in 95 degree weather. Have to be a one day or pretty special race to suffer in the heat all day. To sit in an air conditioned trailer defeats socializing which is part of racing. June July & August races are just not my favorites. If you like em support them. I can't change the district scheduling but can decide what races I will attend. I really look forward to racing at the Tampa site in the future.

Mic

As for the tunnels as Bill stated the classes are evolving a bit. Our November STRA tunnel race already has 9 FE tunnels signed up. The FL west coast has the biggest numbers here but in the rest of the district tunnels are not as popular. More competition in the gas classes at district races.

Well, with nine days left I'll do my best.

If someone can let Andy know, i'm sure he'll enter his Mod-VP, Culhane too. I know Mic has one as well. Those who have already entered 40 tunnel might need to be notified that open tunnel is up now as well.

Mic, let's see how many strings we can pull in this short time.

Now I'll just have to figure out how to deal with the heat.

btw, The ball is not in my court with just nine days before a race. Perhaps if there was more time...

I think if the races where set up different running a class in one day it might work better. that way you could run it like two one day races. run nitro on one day and gas the next. that way no over night stays for some that only run certain classes. just a suggestion.

Would help out with the time and money spent racing for those that only run a few classes.

I guess we all thought it would be good to run a race every month her in Dis 3. My self included. but it seams that all I was doing was getting ready for the next race. May be one race per club might help attendance at all races.

Times are tough and money even tighter for most. Gust some thing to think about for next year.

To me it's not the frequency of races, it's the heat in the middle of summer here. Our racing season should be fall/winter/spring.

Due to the heat and the economy, it would be a GREAT idea to split the heats (nitro on one day and gas the next, or vice-versa, don't care.) for this race, that way no one has to be out in 95+ degrees both days.

Dave,

I am with you on this one. Even if we came with nitro and gas how great would it be to put one set of boats away on Saturday and concentrate on different ones the next day. And as you said it may free up a few people to race all in one day and not tie up the whole weekend, and possibly save a lodging fee. It would not adversly affect anyone as in the current format your there both days anyway. The other bennefit is the pit area would clear out. This would be up to each club to do but I think once it was implemented others would follow. How nice would the Winternats be if visitors could spend a day here or there sight seeing with their families rather than wait around all day to run one heat. You would only have to clean up and put after run oil in once if all heats were in the same day. If all you run is gas this means nothing but nitro guys know what I mean.

David:

Interesting idea with Nitro one day and Gas the Other..... Would be kind of hard with so many gas classes and so many that run the same boat in multiple classes. Gas is by far the most total boats in this district, so it would be hard to get all the gas classes run in one day.
