SOME IMPORTANT RACE NOTES:

I left it open for a long time and didn't put a penalty fee for late entries. Reason, the system the Bill Britton made to set up races doesn't take much time and we wanted to have as many attend as possible.

Please check to see that you are entered if you did so and check that your frequencies are correct.

Open water Friday will be from 10am till 5pm and will be controlled. We will shut it down right at 5pm so that we can get our setup completed and ready for you Saturday morning.

Traffic flow will abe important to everyone and we would like for you to drop off your stuff at your tent area and then move your vehicle to the parking area. We will allow the smaller trailers in the tent area, but do not have room for the very large ones.

Handicap space will be provided under a community tent next to the drivers stand. You will not need to have your own tent, we will provide. Just bring your tables and other support stuff.

Killer race site , lots of good racing , little rain and lightning today . I think it's the best race course i have ever been on ..lots of room and generally great conditions in big wind . The battle resumes at 8:00 AM ..... :lol: :lol:

All i can say about this race site(tampa, Fl) is that during the past 20years or so that ive been involved in R/C boat racing, ive never

seen a lake so perfect for this hobby..you get the best of both worlds..a HUGE lake that i can make a 1minute lap with my twin if i had to, and even in very windy conditions the lake still stayed flat..what more can u ask for..Great job to the tampa club, i had a awesome time..hopefully for your next 2 day race we can get more out of town guys or even hold a national event at the site

Thanks to the Tampa Model Boat club for a great race ! The weather gods were cruel Saturday and Sat night though claiming a whole slew of canopies into twisted piles of metal !! Sorry that some left after a little bad weather making for a small showing in some already poorly attended classes . We need more A - Hydros , B Hydros and C Hydros . Good seeing everyone and thanks to all the guys who helped me in the pits ..never running 8 boats again !! :lol:

We really overcame some weather this weekend and still managed to run the entire event. and get it done in a somewhat reasonable amount of time.

We had some really good heat races.

Some that come to mind were:

Larry Beals Vs. Tom Elkins in Twin Hydro.. Beals came from behind and got all our attention. (Beals still had more in it, I saw his plugs after the run and they looked NEW)..

Dick Jones VS. Brett English... Dick running a single F hydro against Brett's fast Twin and winning.

Davis VS. Josh in A Mono.. Marty had a slower boat, (rental boat), Josh worked him for five laps and finally made his move on the last lap. I have not seen Marty have that much fun since Wayne loaned him a Jersey Skiff in Tampa a few years ago.

Perry VS. Josh in Thunderboat... Perry ran Josh down with a series of tight turns and some blistering chute speed, one he got out in front Perry did not look back..

Of course the Jersey Skiffs were VERY intense.. and had lots of good drivers..... I am still amazed that many boats can hit a start and run lap after lap holding thier lanes.

These are just a few of MANY heat races that were awesome to watch, and judging by the smiles, just as fun to race.
