Dick,

All the Delmarva guys run gas boats and they are over on Jim's. I have no idea what is going on in the club.

There's no real race info on Jim's either. Just a little pre race bantering. No news from the club.

Dick if you have room and don't mind doing so, can you bring you Woodstuff so I can take a look at it. I have no idea how to set up a tunnel.

FWIW:

B-mono (FE-P mono)

B-Hydro (P-spec hydro)

Stock Gas

Had fun today in Delmarva. Hit two boueys...Fixed the kicked up rudder (shear pin snapped). Runs good now thanks to help from John Finch with ATL setting. I like the JAE so far...

Attack of the killer turtles......... :(

LOL! Attack of the ORANGE killer turtles!! Sheared off a sponson today in heat 3. Solid carbon booms sheared pretty much clean off at the tub collars...good thing I had extra carbon tubes to get her fixed tonight...Final heat (#4) tomorrow morning!! Not sure I like the stock turn fin. Someone suggested I take it off and run it without (like the saw boats)...?...I think that there's too much flex in it in the turns making it feel glitchy entering the turns. Anybody else that runs a JAE feel that? I had John Finch help me dial out the ATL so it's not that...

Kent,

I bent the kit supplied JAE21 turn fin easily. Had another made but of a better grade alum (7075) and that bent too. I got one from Gary Pruesse and it has not bent yet. It has more of a swept back design to it and less of a vertical leading edge than the kit version. The boat seems to be more predictable as well. One trait I have found for the JAE is that is is so light and so very little is in the water, it is more darty than my Roadrunner. It is more sensitive to rougher water conditions in keeping the boat aligned and straight. Just something we will have to get used to.

Thanks for the info John. On the way down to the race this morning I had an idea...Mike Hughes had made me a new turnfin for my Spitfire (same one as the Sundowner) and I had never mounted it so there were no holes drilled yet, so I thought about mounting it on my JAE. When I got to the race site I talked to Dick Loeb and he thought it would be worth a shot, so I drilled the holes and mounted it! Man, what a difference that made!!! I was now making very smooth turns...YES! The fin is twice the thickness of the stock ZippKits fin, half the size and swept back rather than straight up and down (well, almost...) This fin fits the bill!!!

LOL!...no orange turtles today Julian! :) I did manage to cook the UL-1 motor on the third lap...doh! My fault! I did not lube the shaft enough...too much heat build up I suppose...

Well, I got 2nd place in B-Hydro and Chilli (Mike) got 1st! We were both running JAE FE's with the nitros. 1st time this has been done (FE's and nitro in same class) in dist. 12!!!!!..........Great bunch of guys and gals at Delmarva!!

I hope everyone had fun Sunday,my wife is doing ok and was released from the hospital. Doctors said she didn't have a heart attack but a "heart event". Test were negative and we will go to the regular doc tomorrow. Mike and Earl thanks for the support and I will get your parts to you soon.

Glad to hear your wife is doing better Charles! Danny did a great job running a tight ship and we all got out of there about an hour befor the big storms hit.

Julian: I don't remember who won the tunnel classes but James picked up the big raffle prize. A pretty white Aeromarine Chaos sport hydro hull. We had to keep him from running back to his pit to slap an Army sticker on it. LOL

To the guys who put on the DELMARVA race this past weekend; we want to thank you for putting on such a nice race. We had a great time as did a lot of people we talked with. The weather was hot, but at least the rain held off. I (Carol) met a lot of nice racers. Pop, looking forward to seeing you again in Greenbrier! The bar-b-q chicken was so good! Thanks cooks. The guys CDing (Danny, Ray and others) were such a scream. By the way Julian, Dick won both tunnel class and took third in B mono. To John Chilli in the novice class, it was a pleasure meeting you and I look forward to seeing you again at the next race. You did a fine job for your first race!
