If you have a specific paint code in say Imron, can they cross reference the color in another brand like PPG? Or would you have to have a paint chip for computer matching? Also, would you have problems using different brands of clear paint vs. the underlying color?

Imron or PPG Clears are compatable with under laying color as long as it has flashed off before coating, but I would recommend staying with the base coat brand in both of the cases, House of Kolors being the exception. Generally if the thining mediums are identical they will work together, but exceptions have been known to occur, ask Don Ferrette, he can vouche on that one.

PPG is in my opinion a superior product as far as being fuel proof and not clouding over time, but I may be partial to it, as it is my favorite.

True, nobody is perfect & I did have one mishap with a bad batch of clear, the ONLY time I've ever had a problem with PPG in almost 10 years of using it for these boats. And I've painted quite a few........ :D

Make mine PPG please. ;)
