Has anyone tried making their own decal using this printable self adhesive vinyl? Can you share your experience? They are available at Michael's. I am not sure if the ink from the ink-jet print will fade quickly in the sun. Will clear coat over the ink protect the decal from UV?

Thanks,

kez

My wife has one that our son has used to make some signs for his business (SloMo BBQ). They have held up well, with no obvious fading. The letters are done in bright orange, a color that will show fading well. No idea about clear coating though. I would think it would be OK, like most any vinyl. I would just start with some light coats first to seal it, then follow up with a normal good final coat. The cricut works well & is easy to use. It has been a good value for the money, IMO.

Clear coat it with clear lacquer, just a dust coat, then stick it on your boat and clear your boat with what ever you use to clear(nitro proof clear).

done this many times on boats and industrial signage,

I made the Decals for the Pesp V using it. I just fog the decals with clear after they were applied and let them set for about 15 min before I shot the rest of the clear..
