Hi Victor there is one thing to rember. if the fuel that you have has castor in it putting it in the refg will not help you will need to warm it up before using it so that the castor will mix. I use all senthetic oil and have cooled it but could not tell any differance in performance. but in a gas boat chilling the gas will make a diffrence becouse the colder the gas the more denser it will be giving a better fuel charge back in the dayes of outlaw dragracing we used cool cans packed with dryice. hope this helps jimmy

I believe this would accompany a comment about ice and eskimo's.

This brings up a recollection of a race about 10-12 years ago that I went to. There was a racer there (truly don't remember where) that had his gal jug of fuel iced down in a cooler. He was talking about how great an idea it was to cool down the fuel. Makes it much more dense and when it explodes it brings a huge increase in speed. Just watch he told us.

About 10 minutes before the heat was to run he filled up the fuel tank to the brim. The day was a fairly warm day, not blistering hot, but just warm. By the time the heat was started, the fuel had expanded and was all over the inside of the carb, the boat and the pipe. What a mess when he tried to start it as fuel was flying all around and had a fuel lock in the engine so it would not crank. He was scrambling trying to clear the engine to start it. He did not make the heat.

After much blabbering and excuses he said he made a tactical mistake by filling it up to much without leaving room for expansion. More excuses came from him the longer the race went on. We we beside ourselves trying to control our laughter for the entire weekend. Still laugh thinking about it from time to time. Never did see that racer again. We watched and all LMAO for some time.

There is a lesson in this story. Just keep the fuel out of direct sunlight and cool as possible. Icing it down brings another set of problems to deal with, as if we don't have enough as it is.
