Come out and Celebrate the Life of Roger Newton

On Saturday August 16th there will be a celebration of my fathers life, Roger Newton, at the hydroplane and raceboat museum from 2-4pm. I hope that most can make it, we are expecting a larger crowd to gather and enjoy shared memories and what his presence has meant to us in and out of boat racing. Thanks again for everyones support through this dark period.

Obviously the Gatjens Family will be there too. As Bernie Little once said to me "You have that guy in your club, Roger is his name, we are sponsoring your club because he is a standup guy and I like him." That was Roger to me, a stand up guy who always went out of his way to help or spread the joy of hydroplanes, model or real.

Pam and I look forward to celebrating your fathers life with everyone. I love the sport that Roger created and will truly miss his advice and support. I would like to honor Roger by renaming the Northwest Scale High Point Championship series to the Roger Newton Memorial High Point Championship series.

I sure would like to make that trip but cant. I will return this October and will need to find someone to send my boat to. I hope a bunch of us can sit down saturday nite and talk about Roger. Scale boating has taken a hit as he was as much of any race as anyone or anything at the race. Our fall race tee shirts will have a ribbon bearing his name. Mike

jerry,,, the tribute stickers are top notch man,,,,, i was wondering how i can get a couple of them off of you for a old atlas im building....maybe you could sell them and the proceeds could go to HARM....just thinking of the people who cant attend but would love to pay tribute to roger by putting them on there boats....
