Has anyone run this engine this summer? If so, how has it run and do you have any suggestions?

Thanks

Olly

Hi Olly

I have ran the CMB Vac and It's a strong running engine.Set the head clearance at .006 with the CMB 21 pipe and your good to go.

Did you get one or are you looking at one? Kevin Sheren got mine that I won at Hobart then put it in the For Sale forum.

Thanks Dave for your reply.

There can't be too many people using this motor in a mono.

My next question is what is the best pipe for this motor? A Cooper S pipe or a CMB 21 pipe and what length should it be?

Olly

The engine will be happy with the CMB 21 pipe.Start at 8.00 and move it in from there.

Olly I have tried the s pipe on my 20 speedmaster with a nova 35 plus it did not work at all ateve wood is in our club he told me it wouldn't on a mono he was right
YEP! The S pipe does not work in a mono....regardless of which engine. You'll need a long rear cone like the OPS.

Don't know about with the VAC21, but I just switched to the CMB (AB) Nitro pipe on my 21 Valvola RSV07 set at 8" with a 707 specialties stinger muffler.

It is too fast for my SeaDucer right now. Great throttleability, and tremendous top end RPM

I'm running an original Irwin S pipe on my Speedmaster, rpm's out the wazoo. :)

Gearing the motor 1.5:1 helps I'm sure...

My Valvola powered Speedmaster 21 runs the best with a CMDI Fat pipe and a ABC 1614 prop. The Long Parabolic worked well also. I want to try the billet XT pipe on it next.

Larry,

We have had some good success with the XT pipe on a 21 Hydro.

Most would not believe the performance, so I don't talk about it anymore.

This is one of the best pipes that Andy has ever made in my opinion. I can

tell you that you have the right propeller on the boat. There is still more in

your set up believe me.

Have Fun Testing,

Mark,

I agree about the prop.

Thanks guys

I guess I will be ordering a CMB pipe and header from Stu soon. I wonder if he will have a Christmas special next month

Mark;

Yes indeed, the XT pipe is a fantastic pipe for sure.

Wonder how you found out about it?

hi dave have you run the red version vac how about the new blue head version.. all info welcomed,, im looking to run 1 in a rigger and also a seaducer mono,, cheers jase,,

Richard Dahlheimer has run the RSV Evo aka red head VAC in a hydro and it would not launch or pull the same props his Valvola's would.

How would this work in a Whip 20?

The 1st generation VAC .21 was based on the RS-V red head engine. Has the same piston/liner,case and water jacket as the RS-V, but has the new VAC inline induction, and weighted crank. I was very impressed with the design of the new drum valve, and drum housing. Steve Wood changed the insert volume, before i tested the motor. I am fortunate to have many .21 hydro props, or i never would have got off the beach. I have since bought the updated VAC .21 case, and piston/liner, but havnt tested the new parts. I am going to try a ZOOM carb on the motor, when Charles gets them completed. The boat set-up isnt the problem, as i can install any of my other Valvola engines, and the boat runs fine. Richard D
