I am a newbee to RC boats. I have been running offroad nitro trucks for some time and now am getting into boats. I bought a Areo Marine sprintcat 90 used and I am trying to figure out what I have. It has a CMB 90 engine with a purple head and flywheel. Is there parts available for this engine? How old is this unit? It seems like these big nitro engines are a thing of the past. It's been hard for me to find much info on these engines. Like I said, I am new to this and if anybody has any input about this, I would glady listen to it. Thanks in advance.

Gerry,

Have a look at this site:

http://pagesperso-orange.fr/xavier.cardinale/first_US.html

Click on Engines at the top, scroll down to 15cc engines, click on the CMB 90 Evo 2003, the next page shows the various types of purple head CMB 90's. Note these engines are the European versions with low end mixtures on the carbs, cone plug head buttons and shaft couplings for solid shafts. You should be able to work out what engine you have.

Ian.

Thanks for the link. It looks like I have the CMB 90 grand prix engine. It was shown as 1988. Are parts still available? Do I have an obsolete engine?

@ 1 : No ... GP has 4 bolts ... the 6 bolts Purple-WChead wont fit

@ 2 : As much as you want

@ 3 : No ... even if it was a GP (or older) untill Evo-2*** 95% parts are interchangeable.

. . . .(due to the Zimmermann inlet-disk & construction)

My head has 4 bolts and is purple. Can I still get piston and sleeve for it?

Like Dave (and me) wrote , liners from the .90's will fit directly.

Or the liner-rim has to be reduced and/or the liner-slot has to be re-slotted.

Not much of a hassle.

Ha ha ... painting your car Ferrari-red .. doesn't make it a Ferrari. :D

This is a purple painted Grand Prix.

It has a Zimmermanndisk on a adapter , different crank also (the inlet-web).

If you can find those parts ... considder yourself lucky.

If ever needed those parts , and unable to find ? :

Find someone with a lathe , and after minor machining a Evo-crank will fit.

hello to all, I think I bought this engine on ebay.
it is very important for me because it makes the transition between the CMB 90 EVOLUTION and the CMB 90 EVOLUTION 2.
the fact that it is anodized in red is a little extra.
