The turtle roundup is progressing well. Nearly a dozen were taken out last weekend and we have over 12 in the trap today. And many are big! We have a small race this weekend and will chase them towards the lake edge where is the trap is located. We will keep the trap active through the fall nats race.
The lake has come up close to 8' (yes from the drought of 2012) from last November from all of the rain in the spring and summer. It has churned up the water a lot but it is clearing up well now. It is real murky 20'+ down and is nearly impossible to see on the bottom. So make sure you have flotation in your boats, cowls, etc., or you may not get them back anytime soon. Two real benefits from the higher water level is that there are few steps to the lake now and the front straights are over 20' wider as the lake bank is tapered and the dock is moved closer to the pits.
