You will still have a place to camp right? I'm trying to find someone to share fuel costs with, otherwise James and I can't afford it. Is there a place to hook up electric on a small camper? We have been there 2 years in a row and have enjoyed it . It is going to be tough if we have to miss it.

i have registered to race at dayton, HOWEVER, i have a son in law that is very ill.i am keying off what his condition is. there will be other driftwood members there racing, if i am not there give to them.

electrical. you can camp, i cannot guarantee the electrical situation tho, they have real changed things at the park, there is a new paved road on the rt end of the pond to the beach. i will see what the electrical situation is and let you know soon.

dont forget if you are staying at the best value inn to get your room before may 1st and save $$$$$.

if anyone needs an entry for the race , regular e-mail me at [email protected] and i will get you one asap!

i only accept paid, mailed (delivered ) entries.

thanks guys and (gal's)

Just a suggestion Dan...

"DEADLINE MAY 10. NO E-MAIL OR PHONE ENTRIES, MAILED WITH PAYMENT ENCLOSED ONLY ACCEPTED"

Pre paying 3 weeks in advance and only accepting mailed entries is kind of out of date. People just don't live their lives that way any more. Why wouldn't you accept entries up till a few days before and let them pay at the lake? If it's because of the T shirt, just charge a bit less and they don't get one. Personally, I can't commit to anything that far in advance. My kids sports and my job just won't allow it.

I'm only posting this because I see race attendence dropping. Partially due to gas prices, busy schedules and possibly just a trend. But just like in business you need to make changes during these times. Maybe even try placing a greeter at the entrance asking people if they want a bag of chips with that nitro. :D All I'm saying is, it's probably time to ease up on the rules a bit and be as accomodating as possible. Make it fun and easy and they will come.

i would really like to wait that long, but i have to have 100 shirts ordered and paid for by the 12th, thats 850 dollars and it takes 2 /3 weeks to get them. see my delema?? they have to order in shirts and i have to have sizes. it takes me one week of running all the heats (evenings) and then i have a conflict with a frequency and have to start sorting all over again. this is all done by computer. i also have to order trophies , any class that dont make the # of entries, i just throw three plaques away, thats about 36.00. for each class not run. as for paying at the lake, many people enter, shirts are ordered, heats are set up, they decide to not show up. we have to try and shuffle heats, we eat the shirt, we loose more $$. all said and done, we dont make much on this race, we need 70 contestants to break even.

maybe its time to cut out the shirts, cut out the trophies and just race and go home. no winners, no loosers, no door prizes, no food concession stand. and a whole lot less work for me. but then, it wouldnt be the race that so many have come to look forward to. time will tell.

i hope this answers as to why i have to have the date when i do.

thanks,

dan

there are no dedicated hookups to use. generator? possible??

I found someone to share the cost of the liquid gold (diesel fuel) as long as we can camp there. Between the 4 of us we will be bringing 12 to 14 boats. We are looking to having a good time as usual. Thanks for the hard work. Entries going out this week.

Just mailed our entries. We haven't been there for the last 3 years and look foward to racing with all of you.
