the packaging makes no mention of Gas only, in fact, it sez if you plan to use Gasoline or diesel you need to change the rubber stopper to "suitable material" and its the only stopper that comes in the package
I think Tom is right, I use mostly Sullivan tanks with the red anodized alum. caps and think they come with both tan and black stoppers and state the black is for gas only.
yep..thats the point andy..if you plan to use for gas...you need to change to No.400 stopper...otherwise..u use the included stopper which is black
the only reason i posted this is that I didnt want people to screw up motors up getting confused by dubro's instructions..me..im permanently switchin to sullivan...lol
Perhaps the wrong instructions were placed in the pakage? I have about 20 Du-Bro "Gas Conversion Stoppers", Cat. No. 400. in stock. They are dark gray.
I'm too old and too tired to too argue with you Lennard, So why don't you just call Dubro and get their opinion. You stated the tanks were new so the material must be wrong. The instructions I was referring to came with the Sullivan tanks and anodized aluminum caps. I'll see you and Jim up at Lake Minden on Mar. 8.
contact dubro, I have had a small issue before, they are VERY helpful and want to know if an issue with any of their products. I had my issue taken care of within 4 days of calling them and no cost to me.
I'm kind of surpised as most tanks from Du-Bro and Sullivan come standard with the nitro stoppers and the gas stoppers as an option sold separately.
I've dealt with Sullivan before when the Tiger Drive first came out as I bought one for my sons nitro truck. They were very nice about it and seemed to want to hear my input. Later, talking to them in person at the Toledo Show. Up until a few years ago you could find their booth by the smell of the hot dogs they'd cook up. I think that the SeaGate put a kabosh on that as they'd give out a hot dog once in a while to customers.
FWIW - Dubro's nitro stopper is black HOWEVER if they sit too long without getting used they will go bad especially if previously exposed to fuel. The Ernst Super Stopper kit or the Sullivan aluminum conversion kit both work extremely well.
They had this really cool hot dog toaster. You put 2 dogs in the center and a bun on each end and operated just like a regular toaster. If Sullivan sold then they would have made a small fortune at their booth! The SeaGate wanted people to pay an outrageous price out in the hallway for their version of food. There's only an ice cream place on the main floor. Upstairs I found vending machines behind a curtain where I could score a Pepsi at half of their prices at the concession stands. Now I just sneak one in inside of my camera bag. Now I have to wait until I leave the show and go to Tony Packo's,
