That sucks! The first time I started my Slingshot at the lake, I could tell I was gonna have a problem with the cowl. The engine vibration made the cowl slide back to the point where it would have blown off in the water. I had to tape it up by the lip to keep it on that day. Regardless of the strength of the magnets as far as up and down, it’s pretty easy to slide back and forth and sideways. My setup is a block with two magnets at the very back of the engine compartment at the top of the radio box bulkhead. I have a piece of carbon fiber plate glassed into the cowl where the metal discs are attached . What I did was install a 1 inch long piece of 1/8” stainless rod that I use for my pushrods directly between the magnets with some epoxy. I put a dab of paint on the end of the rod and lowered the cowl down and that marked where I need to drill a hole in the carbon fiber plate in the cowl. Now the cowls doesn’t slide back and has never come off. Sorry about your cowl. The idea worked great! Just the boat came back home like thisView attachment 319356
