It was alum form the kit.
yup alum! I managed to fix it without damaging the foam. only thing was I had plan to just seal the sponsons and not use any color but I guess I have to come up with a color for the sponsons now .. :D no biggie!

Ok I'm new to the rigger seen...Got a aeromarine .21/.45 stinger rigger...What coller do I use on carbon fiber boom tubs rods???
 
From what I can see on the stinger hull the set up is slightly different. From the looks of it you have 2 continuous booms that insert directly into the sponsons. The JAE .12 has the same thing but sponsons have collars to hold the sponsons on to the boom instead of gluing them directly to the boom. Some of us will epoxy the boom tubes in the hull and other will use a collar to hold the booms in the hull for quick repair. I hope this of some help. Maybe someone here has more knowledge of the Stinger hull could answer.....your question... if you need to use a collar or not . Nice boat though enjoy it!

from the instructions they want you to drill two holes on each main tube and put screws in to the main/big tubs into the wooden tubs mounts.. heres the instructions there veg in the boom tubs set..
