Zipp is sold out. Any one have any or know where I can grab some, im looking for 4 sets. 1/4 id 5/8 od. Thanks

These are not a good idea on carbon tubes or rods, the set screw creates a stress riser or failure point so the slightest bump will break them at that point. They work fine on metal only.

Man those Dubros must weigh a ton

any one used the delrin ones off mcmaster? I wonder if they would be reliable

The Du-Bro collars are heavy. I weighed some last week just to see and 2 of them were 9.5 grams. Multiply that by 4 and it adds up to more weight for this little boat.

Joe sent me some of the collars for the .21 but haven't put those on the scale yet.

One little tip on using wheel collars is to slit the brass tubing as it will compress onto the booms. It makes removal easier also.

Delrin ones from mcmaster should work just fine, but they are a little large 13/16" Dia x 3/8"

I made some out of 5/8" Acetal Copolymer round stock because Zipp was out.

Its very similar to delrin and they both hold a 4-40 tap no problem.

I just copied off of David Hall and drilled through the brass and the fiberglass tube with a 2-56 hex screw works great and gives boom a place to break if needed.

The McMaster 5/16" bore aluminum collars weigh 4.08 grams each. They have a 11/16" o.d. so they are a little bigger than Zippkit's 5/8" o.d. collars. These would be for the JAE 21.

Set screw collars work best when you can machine a flat in the shaft for the set screw. If you can't do that on the boom, I would not use the set screw type. But that's me.

While were on the topic of boom collars.. I want to make sure this doesnt happen to anyone else

Next time I will use brass. this happen taking off the sponson to do some work on the tub.

Did you use brass or aluminum tubes? I think the brass is stronger and that is what Zippkits uses in their .21 kits. Not sure on the .12 kits.
