Can anyone please suggest what leg will work the best for a Cobra and why? What does the shaft angle and length of drive play on performance?

Thanks, Norm

Not sure what works best on the Cobra.

The CMB PTO most likely has a K&B/Lawless bolt pattern. I have seen OS PTO's fitted to CMB 21's with a few simple mods, this way you could use a OS Lower without the need for an adpater plate and custom length flex shafts.

I prefer the Lawless as it is smaller in profile and lighter in weight. Know others have done well with the OS unit.

I'd go with a Lawless, threaded for an O.S. propshaft because the K&B shaft assemblies tend to wear out pretty fast. You can get one of these in that configuration directly from Fred at Lawless. As John said, the Lawless is light weight and a much slimmer sub surface area than the O.S.

The Lawless with an OS stubshaft is a nice unit. That said the aluminum is soft and you can bend or flex the skeg with your fingers. Think it will not flex a bit over 50 mph? The OS is more ridged and I do not think has any greater drag than the Lawless. I have used both on he same hull and prefer the OS.
