Badger Boat Club Time Trials - 2003

Looking for a show of hands as to who would be for a Time Trials at the Badger Pond in Kenosha, WI next May.

We have a surveyed, 1/4 mile course. The records for this size course are ancient. No gas records exist..

We would hold the time trial on saturday and have a race on sunday..

The powers that be want to know that people will come before it will be approved.. We have a meeting sunday, so please let me know.

"If you hold it, they will come." (Pond of Dreams) ;D. I would think that a lot of racers would show up just to get their name in the record books. It also would get people there that normally wouldn't go to a record trials because of location.

The Badger Club is looking to do the first race of the year since the Start Club is no longer.. Thought it would be fun to throw in the time trials.. I know Gary is itching to have one...

Hope you can make it... Maybe we can chase the B Tunnel Record..

We (Badger Club) are trying to get an idea of who would come.. So far, the response has been great..

We have a meeting on sunday to decide what races to hold and when so should have an answer for you on monday.

Man, that was an ugly state of affairs.. Asked to hold the time trial at our club meeting and was met with looks like I had a third arm..

"We are a racing club, not a speed club." Do to personal distaste and no sound reasoning our club elders voted overwhelmingly to have no part in a Time Trial.

Thanks for those who responded.. All I can say is that I tried to offer something cool for D4 and got spanked for the effort.

Not only did I think it would a fun event to have but selfishly thought it would draw more people to our race..

More $$ for our club.. But older and wiser heads prevailed.. They know best.. Only 4 people would have come...

So if you attend a Badger Race this year and would have like to participated in a time trial as well, let them hear it..

nobody has held a 1/4 mile time trial in years!!! i bet a lot more then 4 people would have come! is that the "wiser heads" said?

10 dollars to enter (i do not know if this is the standard) and a buck a run and say we all run 5 runs you ready have yourself $250 bucks and most likly more..

I can not think it would take long to get this underway. Gary P is a master at the lights and we would be underway in no time..

Shame, becides we all might gain new respect for trials. At this point I wish they would leave those things out of the Internats.. Im no good at them because its not somepting we typicaly do..

Maybe we take the ball in our own hands and make it happen anyway. We might be able to do this on out pond and donate the money to a charity.

You are so right.. People from all over the midwest responded and were excited about the prospect of not only a time trial but also a 2-day event..

I listed name after name but the "veterans" were blinded by their personal feelings..

I fought the good fight, but 1 on 5 never really goes well.. I have learned that the hard way one time too many..

The Badger Club will most likely hold two races this year so as I said before, please voice your concerns. It won't help this year, but maybe for 2004.
