yes, I think so but the prop is large for this kv so I think the 427-430 will show you the significant difference in speed. 3 s is a hot setup for 4200 kv I dont want to draw more than 60 amps from this guy to be efficient. A x427-430 will put me in that range and get the full benefit of higher rpm without burning up things. I had no water cooling hooked up on the esc so I just took it out for a quick sprint. Weight is also an advantage im getting out of this motor.I also havent had any time to re adjust the cg and things like that. Its a work in progress.I think you will see a much faster boat once I get the right prop on there and the srut depth set right. After this run the motor wasnt too warm but I ran it before this for about a 2min and it was rather warm. the motor can take it but I cant so that was the first indicator to a smaller prop also the sound. The motor bogged down. Mind you its smaller than the df550 so I need to get the right prop for it which isnt going to be the same one as the df on the same power. Now on 2s the 432 will work but i calculate a loss of about 5mph from the 427 on 3 s.
Looking back and comparing the videos Yes its alot faster with alot more potential. When I get shoboat to do a nice x427 for this motor on 3s and S&b this 432 for 2s this little boat is going to rock. I got alot more action with this new motor. Dont get me wrong the df550 will be a good p motor in a 27 inch hull on 4s and probably an x632-x637. I got a light LSH hull to try it in. Id like to get these smaller hulls set up for my son.I must admit Im having fun with them too.
Hey Bud,The 427 finally arrived . Its so small.I didnt realize there were so many props on a .125 bore, gracious! I think it will do the trick but i saw some with a much lower pitch ratio like the 930 which has a pitch ratio of .9. There even a 16 series in the little guys as well as 22 series - Alot of prop for such small crafts. Hopefully ill get to test it friday.
Back at it again. I didnt want to go back to the df but travis sold me a cdmi y535 couldnt resist it. No need to strain my esc on the microdan so ill go back to the df 550 to try the y535 . Should be a good combo, we will see
When you say cut off the ears do you mean detounging the x432? or do you mean tip rounding?
