Had nothing to do while I waited on the collet for the prather. Decided to run this for fun and see what It needs.

pop ed the top right at the end. It floats though lol.

Its hopping alot and seems like it could take a bigger prop cavitating some and the motor was barely warm.

that 432 need more kv maybe 3500-4500kv maybe a 632 would do okay on this 2650 kv outrunner on 3 s lipo?

Hey Hugh,

Nice looking boat. What hull is it?

I have a similar setup in mind for a 30 inch roundnose hull I'm building. It will be a 36mm 2650kv inrunner on 3s with a 535 prop.

Scratchbuilt Finlay. Yes a heavier 36 mm can will do better than the df550. I need more KV. IM considering a Micro Dan outrunner .It sports 9/10 of a horsepower @ 4400kv and run on 2 slipo which will lighten things up. In the video the boat is @ 2.5 pounds. You should enjoy that 535. Ive ran numbers on one before, nice prop :) .

Pretty quiet drive system "all" ; considering theres not one bearing or bushing in the entire drivetrain  figure that out.

Hugh

Bud, I have a u-25 pak with a 540xl that will serve as a plimited sport hydro that is alot quicker than this boat here. i will have to put an approved motor in it though. An sv27 should be plenty power for it; pulling a x642/645 octura.

My wish list: MicroDan outrunnervelocity.jpg link: http://www.gobrushle...ref=MD2505-4800

Turning a x432 at 50k might make for a fast 24 inch hydro <_<

Ordered my microdan outrunner now we will see what a x432 at 48k will with almost a hp in this little squirt. The outrunner came to almost 70 bucks  but they have a lifetime guarantee and spare parts. I will use the 550df in a 24 inch tunnel that can take 4s easily in its hull. I really like this microdan motor. The advertisement has all theese warnings about how pwerful the motor is needing a 60 amp minimal esc  too funny? With the right prop this thing should get up on some serious pipe now B) It originally uses Finlays wire drive plans which have worked well but I did not have the stainless 1/8 tubibg for the prop shaft ,so mine was brass over the wire. think that might be where that strange prop oscilation comes from; a skewed prop shaft  . So ill install some teflon bearings a octura shaft and a .098 flex cable to help deal with the high rpm.

Hey Hugh,

I'm not sure what my model would be considered. I have to admit, I don't know much about FE boats or their classifications. I don't have a local club to run with so I just build for fun sport running.

I was thinking about your Atlas and it's hopping problem. I built a Finlay 1/12 scale sport 20 with nitro power and it does the same thing in the corners. I built mine per the plans with an offset driveline and I think that is where some of the problem comes from. I think there may be an issue with my turn fin creating lift too so I am going to play with some different shapes. What side of the transom is your rudder on? Have you tried kicking it back a couple of degrees yet?

A p limited hydro would have 4 slipo and an approved motor like sv27 or ul1 motor.

Yes the driveline is offset which make for better cornering. All my boats are right turners other than my mono. Th rudder is on the left side  but the blade is tapered, so I dont think it needs much adjustment. I may need to round it a bit at the front bottom corner of the blade. The turnfin is im sure wrong(designed by me), so I will have to take a look at that. the first thing i want to do is get the scewed proshaft out that will definatelly make it hop. On my 30 inch I used a etti turn fin. I have not had a chance to run that boat though. A "grim racer" fin will likely be a good choice for hydros 25 to 30 inches. You can find him personally here on IW.I havent had a chance to really talk to him but hes an expert on small electrics. He has an old BRUSHED setup on here thats faster than my atlas brushless  so with a brushless setup I already know what he can do. Id Ask him about a fin.

Fellas, I found a 1427 aluminum Id like to try on here as well. I need to put together a small ( 1/8 shafts) props box together and seperate this micro stuff from the larger . An x432 x427 1427 x435 x632 and even a 1732, I want to try with this potent little outrunner. Still hasnt arrived yet :( .I need some small 2 s packs too 3000 mah 35c around that should be enough.

funny thing is of all my projects this little turd is the one i really want to see run with the new motor. :(

Almost a hp out of a motor the size of a quarter. The quality is there. This is a very nice micro outrunner much nicer than a df 450 like you see in the renegade riggers.

I wanna hear it turn. I hope it can pull that 432 i may have to step down to a 430 or 427 who knows.

this guy here in nc Daniel Sny is the one making this motor . says he does motor repairs, bearing upgrades, contract machining, custom motor mount solutions,3D part design, high quality magnet wire etc. Im going to give this guy a call. maybe he can rewind my LS outrunner for a 100 more kv which would make it alot better 10s motor.

Looks like hes got his stuff together and doing it here locally in NC so i gotta call him and see what hes about. So far it looks like hes making some bad@ss micro edf motors.

depending on how this one performs I may have to slap one on the MRP tunnel rebuild . It has a nice low profile . perfect for gettin a motor cover that looks realistic.

Fired this thing up.

All im going to tell you is; it's a whole different ball game.

I need this small prop s&b ed.

cant wait to run it again

That magnet wire - rated to 300C  yeah this little motor is put together.
