looking spot on boss!! nicly done sirWell I got the last piece of wood gluing as we speak....i would highly recommend steaming the sponson tops before putting any finishing resin on them...steam them real good then clamp in place allow to dry then seal the underside...after a good steam it makes it much easier not fighting the compound curve.
Then comes a good sand with 80 grit followed by some filler.
right on boss!!! Sounds perfect!! What’s the colours going to be?Yesterday was a good day....i did a final sand and did the first coat of sealing resin to the top and bottom...this morning I did what is called
"Scraping".... using a single sided razor blade I scraped the hull at a 90° angle to the hull and it removes all the "fuzz" and makes a very smooth surface...i will apply a second coat of resin today....im shooting for completion on or before the 5th of Nov....lets see what comes up...
Hey there ya go!!! Perfect man!! That will work just fine and come out looking great also!!! Not always painting boats with highend paint is the key!! At the end of the day there are what they are and do take a beating on and off the water!! I only use the auto paint as I have it easily available to me.. but 100% it’s not cheap!! A lot of paint jobs and or colours are worth more then the kits themselves.. but I can’t wait to see what you have in store for us boss!!!Oh darn Brian you had to ask.... So I'm a rattle can paint guy ok...i don't have the $$ for real spray equipment or the space...so...my choice is Krylon...never had good results with Rustoleum..
I have a Sun Yellow picked...
With Gloss white...but I really like the Jungle green that I used on my other boats...and may need to toss in some Gloss Black for contrast
Looks awsome boss!! 100% the cowl is an easy fix!! But great job !! Can’t wait for you to get her wet and getter flynToday I was able to complete the bottom and the interior...and I was able to screw up the cowl...oh well...i get to work on the bicep muscles sanding all the paint off.
that would be different... like a gravel guard or bedliner look lol .. tho add weight.. the myth busters did a thing on that where they did a car up like a golf ball to see if it reduced drag... can’t remember if it worked ... also some real racing sail boats toyed with the idea of dimpling the bottom of there hulls to gain speed and less resistance... I guess it worked and it was banned from composition.. lol same idea as sanding the bottom of the hulls .. which I do... it does help 100% ... I even thought of doing the inside of one of my self made turnfins to give it a shotI would like to try a whole boat with the wrinkle finish...well the top deck not the "whole" boat.
