Hmmm. Well, if the only reason to quit is that it doesn't pay, why not raise your prices Andy? Or apprentice someone to do it under your supervision? Just a thought. I LOVE THE PROPS MANG! I've said it before.... write a book Andy! It will make the NY Times list!!! :D

BTW, in my experience with 3 of his props, Mark's helpful suggestions and prop performance have been the REAL DEAL in my humble opinion. And what a great guy to deal with too. I suggest to any skeptics out there to give Mark a call. If AB is indeed cutting us off, I'm gonna buy stock in P4U! :D

I was kinda looking forward to introducing Joe W. to the rear view of my twin but I guess it'll have to wait ..........
   Let it go Don.   Besides, we could just go to NC.

Build yourself a prop mold and save casts from all your Andy Brown props.
I tried that once. Made a mold, heated the props to soften them, pounded away, rehardened, and hop, hop, hop down the straights. :( I'll have to keep paying for props til I learn something new.

The plan is to use the cast as a template. Bend the prop by other means and compare it to the cast. A little hammering here and there to finish up. They never come out exactly the same becasue the metal springs back. And becasue there are areas you can't see when you place the blade against the cast. It's just a whole lot better than eyeballing it.

Hey Mike T,

What are you using to make a mold out of? The duplicators are great, but I

would like to cast some of my own great props, anything that you can share?

Also,do you make a muffler for an AB 21 nitro pipe? And how much?

Thanks,

Mark Sholund

Mark, get one of Mike's mold tools. You could make your own, but Mike T's are cheap and work good too. Use plumber's epoxy stick putty ;) I've got a box of molds I've made at about $1.50 each in material

Andrew,

I finally found what I had left of the balancer jewels and I sent them off to John.

I don't know if they are the ones I used in your balancer or not so you may have to modify the shafts in your balancer to get them to fit.

Just re-punch the holes in the end of the shafts and put the jewels in with a Very small drop of CA.

Later,

Rod

Thanks Rod! We can handle the mod if need be.

Take Care,

Andy

P.S. That thing has balanced probably 20,000 props.

Mark, I make a 1/2" thick aluminum base plate with a 3/16" and 1/4" shaft (interchangeable). What you do is insert two pins cut from 4-40 rod into holes in the based plate, put a square of waxed paper on the base plate and grease the prop, place an "egg" of epoxy plumber's putty onto the pegs, and put the prop onto the shaft and press onto the putty. Tighten the wingnut. Shape it up and when done you have a cast from the prop. It sets up in 30 minutes. Lift the cast from the base. After 24 hours it's strong enough to bang on. There's an article in one of the back issues of modelgasboats.com showing how you can make one, or I can send you one for $35 plus postage. It's not a cure-all, but a handy tool.

" JUST BOUGHT A NEW K90 TWIN & WAS LOOKING FORWARD TO SHOWING YOU REAL PROP WASH........... JOE."

"Joe W STOP SHOUTING "

It's just real easy to get Joe all wound up! That's 1/2 the fun!

Perhaps if the $$$ chest can recover soon (the eye surgery wasn't cheap) enough I can come down south this fall for a little heads up racing there Joe. It would help entice others though if you'd stop making references to boat damage when you say stuff like bring lots of spare parts like you did to Preston previously. It sure doesn't motivate anyone to run against someone who sounds like they are openly trying to run you over which I hope is not the case with you there JW. <_<

Amdy,

this is very sad and bad news. I have had around 20+ props made by CMDI and they all are really a piece of art!

A tragic day in for the RC boat community. Not just for nitro and gas boaters but also for us fast electric boaters.

I have a list here with about 20 props that I planned to send to CMDI the coming week.
