Hello to all the electric guru's... :D I got my hands on an AM Mean Machine hull that is in new condition and would like to make it electric. However I would also like to make it Namba legal for those times that we attend a Dist 3 race that is offering electric classes. I would also like to make this build economical if that is even possible.

I would like to give thanks to all those that reply with pic's and instructions.in advance.

Thanks

Garson, we need to know the NAMBA FE classes run in your area in order to set up the MM to be legal for racing. I have used several different setups in my Mean Machine with good success, it is a very versatile hull.

A good setup for P Offshore is a Feigao 9XL motor, a Castle Hydra 120LV controller (or equivalent), and two 2S LiPo packs with a minimum of 5000mAh capacity/30C rated. With an m645 prop this runs in the high 40s and is a lot of fun. There are a lot of different motors/controllers you could use, some more expensive than others, some faster than others.

A good setup for LSO is either an SV27, BJ26 or UL-1 motor, an SV27 or UL-1 controller and two 2S LiPo packs with a minimum of 3700 mAh capacity/20C rating. Speeds will be mid- to high-30s. This is the most economical setup.

If your hull is one of the "damaged" ones Aeromarine sold, remove the radio box and drains, and plug all the holes except the necessary ones. The hull is the radio box, it is sealed with hatch tape. I assume you have some R/C boat building experience.

I'll attach a few photos of my MM, you can go to the following threads to see what others have done with their MMs.

Jayt thanks for all the information, pics and vids. I like suggestion number 2. It will take me a little time to gather up all the necessary parts to get it going.

What do you think of this combo http://cgi.ebay.com/Marine-3300Kv-Brushless-Motor-60A-ESC-C65U_W0QQitemZ160406608405QQcmdZViewItemQQptZRadio_Control_Parts_Accessories?hash=item2558fa9a15?

Again thanks for your time.

:D

I doubt you'd be happy with that setup, the motor has too much rpm for that boat and would overheat badly, burning up the speed controller. These are among setups that I'd suggest.

OK, I asked for advice and you gave it so I will follow your advice. I just was trying to keep this as low budget as possible. My only option would be is to go nitro but we already have 3 nitro boats and certainly do not need another one :D . I'll just have to buy the motor then the speedcontroller, and so on... This will be very exspensive but will be a lot quiter and cleaner than our gas/nitro boats.

Thanks
