I this summer I have send a msg to ABC factory about my trouble. That was in my Email:

"Hello dear ABC factory. I decide to write directly to you about my deal.
I have by in different time from different shops a props for my hydro. So one of them is ABC-H-48. I use it not a lot but somehow all three props was broken apart. So here is a pic of it. It's happened only with a H-48 PROP. It damage one of the strut."

I attached the same pictures of my props to show how it happens. I just want to know if somebody have a same fail on his ABC Props? If so please let me know.

Been there done that. Broke an H48 on my former Crapshooter twin a couple seasons ago which in turn snapped the strut blade but that was the only damage (broke a blade once on a Roadrunner twin and it ripped the entire transom off). I always liked the H48 on single and twin 80 applications and ran them for years. I'm thinking that perhaps a batch got out that were bad but that's just pure speculation on my part. I'm sure Jim @ ABC will look into your issue, he's a good dude.

Anyway it's failed three times in one place with one blade. Here his respond:

"How long ago did you buy the props?

Who did you buy them from?

Also looks like the prop is blowing the transom out of the water
Looks like to my that the force of the water is cracking the blades inward
on the pressure side of the prop
Bending in not out
How thin is the prop?

You may be better off switching to a different blade
Let me know"

Bending in? Hmmm, the one prop in your pics that is cracked but not yet broken says something different to me. Also it's the same blade on each prop, the one closest to the letter H. Jim's question of when they were bought is a good one as I ran H48's for a long time without issue until I broke the one in my pic. That prop was bought the same season it failed...........

Don, that was my answer in Email chatting:

"I'll by them from Offshorelectrics and some other sites maybe in 2014 and one in 2012. They have a stock thickness just balanced. Nothing else is doing with it. The other props is going great."

I have thrown a couple H-667 also., and have caught a couple just before they throw the blade with the crack developing close to the hub like the one pictured above.

Roman,

Heat treating is the only way to make them live.

The one blade is definitely weak as I have seen many

of them break at the same place every time. I think you

may be better off cutting down 1667's or changing to one

of the new propellers that Jim is making now. The 2515

With a 17 degree rake may be a good answer to your problem.

I have some in stock now.

Thanks For Sharing,

Mark Sholund

Question heat treated to make them last longer ?

You mean a stock prop when bought needs to have further processing done to the material to stay alive..That needs to be done when prop is made.Seems to me that it would be a half baked process.

Thats new to me im all ears

I have seen several heat treated H-48's that also broke.

Heat treating is no guarantee and in some cases can make the prop too brittle and it will break sooner.

If some heating different props with no problem an are happy Coolbeans. It was stated earlier some props broke with no heat treating.Maybe a Rep from ABC will chime in. I never have seen the need.

I had a 2814 break that wasn't heat treated so I thought I would try another that was heat treated. Same results it just lasted a few more runs.
