Just wanted to share a 1/10th scale version of the 8255 "'82 Executone" framing kit. Its a nice little hull! You can see the size difference with it vs. the 1/8th scale 8255 in the background. Mike

Mike: those kits look awsome, you do very good work, what size does the 1/10th scale work out to? sport 20 or sport 40? can you give me some size specs, length, width and tunnel width, also a cost for the framing kit and if a sheeting kit is available. Rick

Hi Rick,

This kit would put you in the sport 40 range. Here are some dimensions:

Length- 35"

Width- 19"

Tunnel Width-10"

A framing kit, which is just the bulkheads will run you $125 shipped

A framing kit, sheeting kit, and this includes the proper batten sticks, will run you $225 shipped

The sponson sheeting is actually laying underneath the kit in some of the pics. The sheeting kit includes all the sponson sheeting and deck sheeting required to build the boat.

Let me know if you have any other questions. Thanks, Mike

Would all the 1/10 scale be 35in long or would it variey. If the rules are the same it could go in sport 20 just barley. 35in is the max it could be to be sport 20.

Blaster its a little big for a 20 n=but perfect for a 40

Yeah I was looking at that, dang I figured the size of it would be to much for a 20 motor. I been wanting a 94 Budweiser and was thinking of getting a 1/10 scale I don't really need another scale. Guess it will be a future project

Mike, your frame stuff looks just AWESOME! I was curious if the 1/10 scale hull would work for an electric set up? Ive know that RCU has a 1/10th FE scale class and just wondered if the boat would be legal? Either way, its a VERY COOL boat! :)

Bill, I have completely redone the 8255 kit series actually (1/10th, 1/8th and GAS). I changed the tunnel width to get it back to its correct width as it was maxed out on the plans. I also updated the sponson design, and added a belly pan so there was more room up front to add batteries. Center former angle and break point were also changed to help the hull handle today's power. All I run is FE, so I try to make all the frames I now due much more battery friendly! Just PM me if you have any other questions. Thanks, Mike

I didn't realize there were so many posts today! The 1/10th scale frames have been coming in (on the modern pickles) around 34.2" in length. I have a good amount of 1/10th scale frames available now as well. I am also working on many more too. Just gotta find time. Here is the current list. Thanks, Mike

I have a question about the 1/10 scale kits. Do all of them come with the sheeting kits or was it just the 8255? And how much would the 137-B, 8200, ’84 The Squire Shop U-2 cost? And finally spoon what would be an easier build the 94 bud or the 84 squire Im torn between the two just need a builders opinion.

BlueB,

Actually the 8255 kit I completely redid recently. Changed sponson AoA, break point on the center former, added a belly, narrowed the tunnel as it was originally drawn at 110% width, now its back to the 100% width. Also added toy tabs to that kit. The original 8255 plans packed way, way to much air, so I worked every angle I could to reduce that problem. The byproduct of that change, unfortunately, is the sheeting kit I had for the 8255 now doesn't work with the new frames!

So basically, any frame I offer, view it as only a frame available. I do have sheeting for the lobster and 7931 hull, but only because I built those myself. Between the squire and 94 bud, honestly, your only difference might be that one will have a turbine tube to contend with, and the other won't. Now if you compare say the 94 bud to a 77 Atlas blueblaster or 85 Dominos Pizza, all of the sudden you are removing the front canard/flaps from the picture and that makes the build much easier. The Winston Lobster vs. the 85 Dominos builds I just finished are no comparison. The Winston was hands down more difficult of a build! Pictures below.

Anthony, I will say it like I have said to another person before. Show me a group of people willing to purchase a hand full of sport 20 size frames, and I will do them up. Its kind of like the 1/6th scale Boeing kit I did for an FE guy out west. He begged and begged for me to do the frame, then when it came time to pay, he didn't want to pay, even at a reduced price. So I spent about 10 hours working up this custom kit that I knew no one would ever request again, only to learn even he would not get it. When you put an average of 8-12 hours in on CAD per kit (just ONE scale- not counting up and down sizing each kit to different scales!), and sometimes more when I totally revamp the bottom side it gets really hard to justify a size no one may show interest in. Like I said, go out, drum up the interest in 1/12th scale frames, get a list going, and we will do it! All I need is a reason!!! haha

I will post the kit price here, however, I should maybe post it over on the main kit thread as well.

1/10th scale (clock or counter) $125 shipped

1/8th scale (clock) $160 shipped

1/6.666 (20% over) Gas scale (clock) $200 shipped

Those are general prices, shipped prices are to the continental USA. Shipping basically makes up for $10 of the price. RETURN CUSTOMERS AND MULTIPLE KIT ORDERS ALWAYS GET DISCOUNTS!!! It is my way of saying thank you for the support. Sometimes I don't remember all my returning customers call names, so REMIND me guys so I can adjust the price!!
