No hurry to get in the water but with a twin you are twice as likely to have problems in the hot pits so I choose to go right away just in case something pops up.
I agree, I don't have a twin and I go in at the start of the clock just in case something happens....

I suppose lower nitro would help, but then you are slower....
Running slower is not an option.
its not always the fast boat that wins that has been proven time and time again

cant argue that either. i look at it the less time i mill the less likely i would get tangled up with someone else ;-)

when you going to make the move to 101RS ??
That's a good point as well. :) I need the mill time to get in the groove, and I'm not running the speeds you twin guys are running. :)
Maybe someone will let you take the controls of one so you can have a 1st hand experience that would be awesome
I'll let Craig try mine next year if he wants.
he would really like that
That I would! :) But, I would be nervous as hell.... :)

Alright this is what I've found.

Filled both tanks to capacity and let the drain by gravity into a measuring cup.

Both tanks drained completely dry , checked how much fuel was in measuring cup , just under 16oz.

Not near enough fuel for Picco 80's , that has to be the problem.

I gave Mr Barney the max dimensions I could fit in the tub and he estimates it to be just under 19oz's .

Looks like I need new tanks.
That explains it for sure.

What are the outside dimensions of your tanks?

i can tell you this. i only did 6 laps on my Twin along side Mr Roadrunner (Ralph Almirola) before i raced the boat in the winternats in 2011 i was successful because of his mentorship along with a few others. the only thing i raced prior to that was a B/D tunnel and B Mono. if you can drive a Tunnel you can for sure drive a Twin its tht simple you just have ti turn faster thats all..

Since I collect Joe's old boats I guess I'll have to wait until he wants to sell his 101.

Tim we have found some pipes give better fuel mileage than other. Even with the same power results. Try a pair of macs pipes and see if the results are the same....

tim the CMB Fat Pipes and Quiet pipes Gives great fuel mileage probably the best on a 80 Twin thats what i have found in my testing.. i had the 19oz tanks on my big twin you destroyed but on the short boat i had just like the one you have now those where the pipes that gave me the best bang for the buck as far as fuel milage. i have tried macs, AB quiet pipes, OPS,kalistratov pipes, mucs so far i like the cmb fat pipes and quiet pipes those are my favorite ones.
