I picked up this used R4 rigger from Oscar Love in north Texas.
It was a bare hull and had been crashed/repaired. With a little love it made it back into the water this week.

I am really happy with the results of this setup.
TP3630
Hydra X ESC
Onyx 6600 3s pack
3/16 flex setup
42 mm china aluminum CNC prop (unknown pitch) specs only say "high rake"

The clean run starts around 1:50

dang that has to be over 450 amps!

I wish I knew. The Hydra x logging stops at 353.9 amps

I originally tried to setup this boat to run on a CNHL 2,200 mAh 70c lipo to keep it very light weight. That LiPo ran the boat for 10 seconds. It got pulled down to 4.8v overheated and puffed like crazy. I am lucky it didn't burst into flames....

I changed to a lower KV TP3640 motor and ran this boat on 4s at 94 mph.
The castle data logs show it has a little more in the setup. I hope to break 100 mph next time out.

I just purchased an R4. Any advice on the build?

I had bought this one from Oscar already built... so I don't know much about the build related to the wood assembly. They are well designed as is. I don't see any reason to deviate from the instructions.

The one thing I do for all my riggers is swap to a speed master Mono strut because I don't like the Z strut they have with these kits, they always come loose. https://www.offshoreelectrics.com/proddetail.php?prod=ros-spdss-002

I am starting a new 33 FE build tonight :)

Too late! Already ordered the hpl- hc. Ordered 4 of them so I could use them in my Xmax truck also. Plus the SRD-V3 packs are out of stock. So the HPL will get me going.
BTW, my boat is my first electric rigger and is bone stock. Is the stock propellor the best one to run?

That should be fine.
The SRD is more helpful if you are going for really high speeds.

The original prop should be good to get you going. Then you could look into different props to tune its behavior.
First runs should be short and check the motor, ESC, and connector temps with an IR temp gun (amazon)
