Has anyone ever heard of this mono hull? Is it any good? I plan on putting a Picco 90 in it. Any thoughts and/or information would be greatly appreciated.

They were good boats and ran good. Most were set up sub surface. I ran mine surface drive. Definitely worth running.
Danny, I have the opportunity to get this boat for free, however it needs a lot of body/hull work. I've read that using a surface drive the boat gets squirrelly at high speeds. I plan on putting a Picco 90 in the boats. What are your thoughts?

I’ve seen both work just fine.
Just have fun and be open to making changes. There is not one way to do most things.

Neil Sightler built very competitive hulls in the late 70's. The quality of his glass work was second to none.. The Hull's had a molded engine mount / radio box that was super cool. I understand that Neil passed away last september..

I have a new unmolested 50" hull that I am saving for a future Gas (CMB 27) build..

Like Danny said, restore it and have fun! It's a cool boat for sure.

I have had a few of them, great boat back in the day. Back then in the 80’s and 90’s most were set up subsurface. No one was building monos surface drive when that hull was originally built. If I were going to build one today it would be surface drive with 4 individual trim tabs on the back and a turn fin. The problem you might run into is chine walk (when the boat rocks side to side at speed) but you can control that with the outside trim tabs and small adjustments.

I would basically set the back up like this….

I had a splash of one that I got from John Pavlisko of the Sarasota club
I put a Picco Comp 90 in it and had a blast with it . Sold it to Mike Culhane in St Pete. Danny King might remember it .

Wonder if that was one of A.T. Wrights "Lazer" hulls
A.T. had a hobby shop up here in Orange Park, FL. Way back,
I had one of his "Splashes" for a good many years.
