45 Mono

I'm currently running a elderly AC Magnum 45 powered by a Mac 45.While I have the speed to match my competition, the handling of the hull is letting me down. I am currently investigating possible replacements and have been impressed by one particular hull, but before parting with my hard earned cash I thought I'd throw the question to this forum.

"If you were going to build a 45 mono which hull would you choose?"

I'm completely open to all suggestions and any advice is much appreciated.

I saw a Wolfe Racing Marine hull in Brisbane running ever so smoth (and fast by the way) on the weekend. It actually made me think of selling my SprintCat for one.

We have some of the older Twincraft's still running in the area and doing well. I have a Microburst and really like mine. Seaducer's are the biggest competition here. We have a few Calcraft's running here too but they seem to be more popular on the West coast.

Joe, is the Speedmaster 45 available yet?

Seaducer they hold the water like glue, and they handle great. I think Micro Burst would be a good choice too.

At the 2004 NAMBA Nationals 45 mono class the top three boats were Aeromarine, Calcraft, and Mocroburst. The top three in 2003 were Calcraft with seducer second and third. My observations at the last few nationals placed Calcraft and Seducer as the most popular among the top boats.

Thanks for all the replies. I was leaning towards a seaducer, but I had also considered a microburst or calcraft. I was impressed by the seaducers at the Hunter Valley Champs two weeks ago and your replies have convinced me to go that way.

Hey Craig.... guess who has a new 45 mono......

Guess what hull you will be racing against???? Starts with S, ends in R and doesnt have trim tabs........ oh and its green like the rest of them

In the IMPBA District 2 Mono High Point Series the Seaducer SD3 dominated in 2004 season championship - 1st - 2nd - 3rd place with VanWagnen Viper 4th and Microburst 5th

See it run???? It hasnt hit the water yet.... needs a pipe mount and remote needle mount and it is firing... so I spose it may be a chance.....

This gets interesting. On any given day just about any hull can win a race. Some of these guys could hang hardware on a brick and make it scream. Get your boat dialed in, be at the line when the clock hits zero, stay ahead of the pack, keep out of trouble then the wins come. It's not all about the hull but it doesn't hurt either, it's a percentage of the total.

Yes, it's available. I got one from Gary P. I'm still putting it together. I suppose you can also get one from McGraw.

I got my Speedmaster 21 and Microburst both from Gary. I'm not ready to give up my 'burst yet. I knew that Joe got the first one but didn't know if they were in production yet. If it's anything like my 21, it ought to be a Helluva boat!

The Speedmaster is blistering fast but I haven't got the balance and trim dialed in yet, but....wait till next year!

Good choice Craig. Justbe sure that you get the steering set-up correct (servo selection etc) and use the hole nearest to the centre on the steering servo out put arm.
