Guys I have finally started to work on my 40 Hydro setup and am just wondering where I need to get to speed wise to heat race competitively. Operative word here is heat race, I definitely don't want to be a mobile buoy out there, .. Thanks Tony J

The ones around our area are doing over 70 mph in heat trim.

Dont know how fast he is going but young Betke is driving just fast enough to stay in front

There's really no way to actually give accurate speeds unless you have a radar gun or record trials

I checked my pocket radar at 40 hydro heat most speed 50 to 65mph . If you make good drive qiuick corner also depend on your rigger get good sharp fin turn , modded engine w/ pipe. true fine prop S&B and strong muscle servo for steering and possible more speed than 65 mph over. I have my SGX 45 really freak fast LOL and IF I drive little mistake turn left then fly over or dive in water so I make learn lesson myself .

Low 70's and a good handling boat that can slow to a crawl and get right back up and you'll be very competitive.

Mid 70's you'll be in the top 5%.

Only a few running 80+ but most doing it are too close to the edge for heat racing. I've got an 80+ setup I've been working on but haven't been able to race it yet.

Looks like we'll have some more 40 hydros for the Can-Am next year!

nice looking boat there, can you post a full image of it?

The big question is what engine and prop is Martin using
Its no secret and he makes none about it - search function is your friend.

That said, it takes a TON more than just a quick boat

We all know or should know,

to finish first - first you must finish.
