I like the Speedmaster. It's fast and stable and the price is right. Quality is better than anything on the market.

Not to take anything away from the Speed Master. Very nice Boat!.

The New 33” SD3 Seaducer Dave Hilton won the Nat’s with was set up per Jerry’s instructions with a box stock MAC 21. This boat had less then 1 full tank of fuel through it before the first Heat Saturday morning.

Dave is an exceptional Driver, but the new Seaducer is an exceptional boat.
 
I second that about the seaducer with the MAC.21 engine. good combo and need to set it up to a T by Jerrys instructions, will be a good fast stable boat.

The IMPBA Nat's are just a few weeks away. You may want to see the results of this year's racing.
 
Yeah, and don't be surprised if you see a certain Joe Knesek's name in there right at the top! :) I've got an older Speedmaster 21 that handles great. It's been the only boat that I've built that didn't need any more than setting the carb to run good. A great boat has a lot to do with the builder and driver (not me! :D ). I chose the Speedmaster 21 on 2 things, one, the maker and two, the price.
 
No doubt that Speedmaster is a great hull. I have one of the first models and it really handles well.

I must admit I’ve been thinking about getting that new 33" Seaducer so that I can run more prop though.

I'm running a full 440/3 with the version 2 Speedmaster but I don't really care if it can only pull a 410/1 as long as it's scootin! Anyone that's seen my black Speedmaster will tell you, it's stable quick and almost always finishes. I've built a new one for the Nat's that should be even better.
 
I am running a 3 year old Seaducer with an Orlic Nova Rossi,hope my PINK boat can hold off the black and blue ones LOL.... AWESOME BOAT just needs some driver attention....Mikey......cya in Jackson
 
I thought I read somewhere that a CalCraft finished 2nd in A mono at this years Nambanats, and I know for a fact that a Cal won 20 mono at the IMPBA internats last year in Michingan...

At the Nat's, I'll be racing in color instead of black and white. That boat's so hard to see I've built a new one to chase you with....The black one will be in the van just in case.

Your original question I think still begs to be answered. Many different opinions are out there, just like who has the best truck or auto. Never a consensus. However if you look at race results for many races in just the past 2 years, one familiar theme comes out. The top winning hulls have most frequently have been (in no specific order mind you):

Seaducer

Speedmaster

Calcraft

Microburst

TwinCraft used to be among them but I do not see them as much in the south as when I lived in Virginia. If you get any of the 4 hulls above, you will have a winning hull. But you win with the entire package - hull, engine, pipe, prop, fuel, driver and the least appreciated element, the PIT man. We have all seen races won or lost with good or poor pit men. You can start arguments over each element as to which is the best but all have to come together. Lady luck also can figure into it.

One item to note is that both Seaducer and Speedmaster have come out with new hull designs very recently. I do not know about Calcraft or Microburst. If you choose to go with a new hull, then get the newest design s they are better, faster and more stable than the previous versions.

If anyone's hull preference is not noted above, please do not heave grenades at me. Just look at the results. There are others sprinkled around but I do not recall seeing other dominant ones like those above. A different/lesser known hull, coupled with the right package, can win and does all of the time. Just my .02 cents worth.

Just the first one I typed in. I noted no specific order of preference in my posting. Could have put Speedmaster first, or Calcraft, or any brand for that matter. In truth, I know Jerry Crowther and Chris Fabbro quite well. They are the producers of Seaducer and Speedmaster. Chris sold Microburst to David Showers (who I also know quite well) a few years ago. Chris was itching to get back to building the models again (Chris owns his own pleasure boat business in Pensacola FL). He now builds the Speedmasters and has improved them.

Personally, when I was going to get a 20 mono for Ryan, I chose Seaducer because Jerry gave me a very good price and built it just for him. He used carbon fiber for the entire boat and put in kevlar in the front third and that thing is almost bulletproof. Just what a 14 yr old needs. But he is an excellent driver for his age and could have gotten away without the kevlar. However it is a great selling point when I decide to change it out. I am certain that Chris would have done the same but he was not doing the Speedmasters then. David just got the Microbursts and was trying to gear up. Essentially circumstances dictated what I did.
