i know these items must take power away but is it considereable and what do i do to get rid of the water pump

the clutch probably doesnt kill too much power, but none the less it robs some power. I doubt you'd see a big jump in speed without it.

To get rid of the water pump, you'll just need to disconnect it from the motor and plug the hole made for the pulse line to it.

any other suggestions other than a balanced prop and some turtle wax when it comes to getting this thing to go faster....

well i dont know what you have, so cant really say. But other then propping for the most speed, try to get as little drag as possible... IE a thin no pickup rudder blade with a propblast pickup.

don't wax it what ever you do, you'll lose speed, I have two gassers with clutches and besides the fact that you are introducing more parts to fail, I find it so much more convienent to have the clutch. If you're an all out racer go clutchless.

I agree NO WAX, if any thing get some 800 wet sand paper and wet it very wet, soak it and sand the bottom from the engine to the stern, one stroke only, do not go over it, any more than twice and go in the same direction as the water flows under the boat. Note take the wax off before doing this.

BTW i have a shockwave 55 with balanced and polished prop i am running 6 ozs of amsoil in 5 litlres of gas is this correct?

thanks so much guys for helping me here

take a pin and wax it, then float it on the surface tention of the water in a glass. now do it without wax the pin will not float, the water is holding the pin up which means drag on a larger scale. Don't thank me, thank Mr. Wizard if anyone still remembers him.

As far as the oil goes I use amsoil saber 100:1 mixxed at a 25:1 ratio

If the motor stalled at low speed, dont LEAN it out... RICHEN the LOW needle. Rich runs... Lean burns stuff up. Are you using the stock 644 carb?

i dont know what 5 liters is.... but you should run no less then 8oz of oil per gallon, 10oz even better, especially running Amsoil synthetic.

ok, depending on what your weather conditions and altitude are like.... 1-3/4 to 1-7/8 on LOW and 1-1/8 to 1-1/4 on HIGH worked best for me on a stock 260 with 644 carb.
