Hey guys,

Once again its the million dollar question....

I am assembling a mono, and pondering around what engine to use...Here are the choices:

1. CMB Valvola

2. MAC 21

3. Novarossi R1 WC/M

4. Rossi Piranha Evo 2 (The red one)

Which one would you choose? I will be running in a hot and humid place (i.e. Hong Kong), using 20% nitro, direct drive and on a pond. Any suggestion appreciated.

Regards,

Jason

will you be racing?

If so all of those are great choices....personally I would choose the MAC b/c thats what i run now. but to each is own.~ James

I run the MAC .21 with the brown pipe.

I really like it, and it runs great on 40% just for play.

Now that Rossi OVAL Head on, Piranha i think, is a HP MOTOR, High RPMs,

Maybe Ron with chim into this, his son has it in his speedmaster and its FAST, dont know the reliability of it, but for the mac i can say 3.5 gals of 40, and not a problem and still making HP.

Yeah the MACs are reliable when taken care of.......I run 9 gallons through mine and replace the bearings, only because I feel better about it, not b/c there worn. I run 60 % Have the same piston and sleeve since I bought it........

9 gals through it?? Damn good engine then.

Now what temps are you running on your mac topfuel?

Do you restrict it or not?

And that was the Rossi Naigria motor i was talking about up above.

I've got the Rossi Niagara. It does take a while to break in but you would notice a speed increase every time out. The carb doesn't seem fussy and it will take a larger prop than most 3.5's. I'll know more in less than a week at the Internats on how well this engine will do when we play with the Big Dogs. The Evo II is supposed to be better but the HP and RPM are the same that the Factory posted. Jim Irwin seems to really like the Evo II so it can't be all bad!

I can't complain about a Nova Rossi either, I had one of those before I bought the Rossi.

is the rossi engine currently for sale by hyper prod the red case marenllo??? version?

it sure is expensive!

it is listed as the PIRANHA but the description says:

Rossi 3.5 Inboard

2.9 hp @ 42,000 rpm

7 Port Sleeve design, Turbo Crankshaft, Ceramic/Alloy Piston, Hot Red Case with Polished Water-Cooled Head

link: http://hyperprod.bizhosting.com/_piranha_3..._5_inboard.html

$384 smackeroos! if it were $284 id buy it....

Tom, call Gary, he has MUCH better prices. I can't say in here how cheap I got the Niagara for! The only thing I don't like on mine is the cone lock plugs, expensive and hard to hook up a glow ignitor to.

Ron,

Do you have to use the funny RB Concept plugs?? Thos things are a fortune and a nightmare like you said to take out w/a wrench or put a glow ignitor on it.

Did you get your from Gary Pruesse?? Do you have his number?

I've got the Rossi plugs. They normally last a long time once the needle is set. I have a bunch of glow ignitor clips from various makers but the easiest and most reliable one that I have is just a simple pair of booted alligator clips using stereo speaker wires.

Gary's number is 630-279-2451.
