Hey Gang,
We are getting close now!!!
We held one final test-n-tune session @ the pond Sunday and man-o-man was the wind howling!!! 20-30 MPH ALL DAY!!! Hopefully Mother Nature has all that out of her system and she will smile upon us come this Friday, Saturday, & Sunday. If the rain stays @ bay the temps are currently forecasted to be in the low 70’s… Perfect weather for HARDE CORE RACING!!!
I wanted to give everyone a heads-up on the Open Water situation. Thursday will be “uncontrolled” open water. As the name implies you are on your own… There will be AMB club members around from time to time throughout the day, but there will not be a dedicated retrieve boat crew or CD overseeing the proceeding. We will also be handling final set-up details Thursday morning @ 10AM. We will be putting out safety netting, PA system, clock etc… No one will be allowed to run during this time. As soon as we are done the pond is yours…
Friday is “controlled” open water from 9AM – 5PM. We will have a CD on the stand and AMB members in the retrieve boat for the duration of controlled open water on Friday. We instituted a few RULES for open water last year that turned what was formerly knows as TOTAL CHAOS into a much more controlled environment. Those open water rules are back for 2008 with a few additional tweaks.
1. No more than 6 boats in the water at one time.
2. When the 3rd boat dies (or @ the CD’s discretion) all boats must return to the dock so the retrieve boat can go out.
3. All drivers participating in open water MUST drive from the drivers stand. No more driving from the launch area. Getting to a higher vantage point allows you to better see the dead boats on the course.
NOTE: We have increased the pit area down towards buoys 1-2-3, but due to the lay of the land parking will still be tight. As usual, please set up your tents, drop your trailers, and then get your car/truck out of the way. In order for everyone to fit we will be stacked 2-3 deep in some places.
See you @ the pond!
