Well. Looks like I'm gonna have to do some studying. I have the equipment, I'm sure. But I'm and idiot when it comes to doing other than internet or mail tasks on my computer. Thanks.
Yes Tom! 4 laps in 17.24 seconds is the Japanese record. It is precisely measured with infrared sensors.
Just for the facts, it is a Rossi (REX.21) that has the fastest time. I think it is the second to the last run on the vid, if my memory serves me right.
I got up this morning after letting it download all night on this tin can and a string modem. Damn, there's some fast boats over there! I did notice that some of the racers were wearing sandals, not fully covered shoes, a no-no over here. Loved watching the "Left Hook" run also.
Actually! The left hook is a heat racer. He just entered it in the oval time trials to show off. If I can remember, his time was 23 seconds. I'm shooting for 18 or under.
I saw that, too. Actually, the rules here require shoes that cover your ankle. We are supposed to wear safety glasses, too. Nobody does, though. I usually wear steal toed rubber boots, and my Ray Bans when I run my boats.
I tried to cut and paste it directly from the rule book, but Yabbse can't understand Japanese. Hmmm!
Guess you'll just have to take my word for it.
The course from bouy 6 to bouy 1 is 50 meters, the line from bouy 1 to bouy 3 is 8 meters. Buoy 2 and buoy 5 are at 45 degrees from buoy 1 and 4 respectively.
Going by your course measurements and rounding the corners of the course. The distance covered in 4 laps is 500 metres. (2 x 50 for straights, 25m for the 2 turns at 1/2 x Pi x8 per turn. x 4 laps)
Tim, you're missing a conversion to MPH. Now i'll have to go out to my car to try to figure out how fast they are! ;D Without looking, I know that they are FAST in the video.
