Who all remembers going to the 1990 Internats? At that time I was 10 years old, I really remember finding out about the fire ants.

Ackerman Park is still there, a bird sanctuary now but the county lets the electric boats still run there. The local boaters have been trying in recent years to get access to Banderson Park, the national rowing basin on the east side of I-75 south of University Parkway, so far no progress.

Yep we were there

Went to some small restaurants on the beach and had the best scallops ever
I believe you are thinking about when you went to the Nats there in 2001. In 1990, I was there and was 14 years old and I remember Pinckert asking if anyone had heard from you or Mark, I think something happen and y’all didn’t make it that year.

Was there too and learned about the fire ants first hand.

Won SAW in E hydro with a blistering 75 mph average, lol.
I remember you winning that, Art Mcmeans took 2nd at 72 mph. The water was very rough for some people at that race, they didn’t call that the Sarasota white caps for nothing. It was so rough when my Dad ran he died off the beach. Joe Ingrao had good water and held the record at that time around 79 mph, he only went 67-68 mph if I remember right . Your boat went well in that time frame.

So nice to have these internats remembered. It was fond memories for me. And a bad year for those fire ants. The rough water on those breezy days did inspire the name for the club. Thanks

I was there also. Kind of a "Funky" course with the back SAW much longer than the front SAW. Lots of drama but a really nice location.

Hello Francois, so good to hear from you. I hope you are doing well. Are you still racing in Europe and what do you run?
