Just picked up Jason Benson... That's 73 boats.
Should be a great time. It's looking up to be the best water for an invitational in 5 years. May get a little wet Friday, Saturday and Sunday are looking mid 70's and calm. However, in the midwest we know better than to put money on anything beyond what you can see out the window!
An idea of our course situation. Standard NAMBA oval, infield M marker. We'll have a drivers vote on the P Offshore offset behind the fountain. Similar in distance to a regulation offset to either side, due to size constraints from this location we can't do that. As the event is unsanctioned, it will be up to P offshore participants to run this alternative offset or the official oval with infield M only.
All classes will be J start with countdown. Must clear the left side of start-stop buoy and #4-5-6 to complete the start. Any cut here, buoy cut = 1 lap.
One lane will be regarded as 2 boat lengths, with obvious benifit of doubt given the sport we participate in. On the start we want NO zig zagging or obvious lane changes beyond #6. Pinching at the start will NOT be tolerated, you will receive a lap penalty or DQ if you push someone out of contention. Checking up to prevent jump start will count as jumped start = 1 lap, DQ if boat collision is created by this motion.
All classes (P offshore exception) must clear left side of #1-2-3-4-5-6-BS-SS until race completion. P offshore must clear right of infield M buoy, left of offset buoy (if used) and left of #1-2-3-4-5-6. Any cut here, buoy cut = 1 lap
P offshore 4 minute countdown, count laps completed to 1/4 at timer. Chrono will stop on lead boats upon completing 10 laps. LS Offshore and LS Hydro will be 10 lap oval race. All others 5 lap oval.
Buoy Marshalls will blow whistle if cut is recorded. 3 cuts = DNF.
Pit crew will launch boat for drivers. No boats may enter inside of 10 seconds remaining on clock. A flipped boat in start lanes will be DNS and depending on hazard the heat made be red flagged for restart. Boats may be removed to waters edge while DNS is retrieved, NO work may be done. Boats will restart race as is. DNS may not restart. At race completion, drivers will retrieve their boat, crew person will report to score keeper, finish place, buoy cuts, and recorded time. If information is not recorded before returning to pit, points may NOT be scored. Drivers responsibility, we will not hunt down crews for scores.
Registration will be closed Friday evening. Heat sheets will be mixed for the day, and handed out before race start. Drivers must verify class entries and frequency information prior to race start. Report all errors to official...
