Hi all. I bought this 1/8 scale replica of the Miss Kentuckiana Paving hydro from an estate sale thinking I would get back into the hobby. A year later and all I have done is enjoy looking at it on display. I have too many hobbies on the go as it is. I have had a couple nitro boats in the past, but this one is so nice it should go to someone with more experience. I do not have the expertise to safely and reliably run this baby.
It is almost %100 ready for the water. A suitable transmitter and a few finishing touches are needed. There is no front cowl either. This is a spectacular boat. All stripes and lettering are hand painted and clear coated. Everything is new and unused. The OPS .67 has never been run! Not sure who made the tuned pipe, but is is new as well.
I think $1200 is a very fair price for this. I will work with the buyer to arrange the most reasonable shipping.

Being the completely wrong color for a 1/8th scale boat I think you’re better off keeping it at the price you’re selling it for.

I would disagree on the color. The photo shows more teal but even photos back in the day never showed true color then you age the photo 60 or 70 years and it becomes a crap shoot. Even if you had a piece of the boat it could be sun bleached a decade. It's a nice boat. Race it!

The Paver was park bench green.Making that boat a sport 60 not an 1/8 scale.Sell it for what it is or run it,looks like new

So am I to assume that 1/8 Scale has to replicate a current or historic boat right down to the color and graphics? Not just hull design and scale accuracy?
The hull on mine is 48" x 21" btw. Yes it is new.
That is correct!
You are replicating an actual unlimited hydro from the past or prezent.
IF it were a green that is close to the real boat, depending on where it would be raced.
Some would allow it to run.
But that blue is not close.
Although it is a nice color.
Rick.

Yes you are correct it must be the right color and graphics as close as possible. Most scale guys spend hours researching photos, the rarer the boat the harder to find good photos
Damn,,, you scale guys are sure picky ….🤣
Yes sir we strive to depict the real boat, as best we can.Scale hydroplane racing is its own animal

It was built by a long time member of our old boat club here in Houston.. Louie Bauman..

Louie loved running his scale, he called it
“ gentleman racing “ … I pitted for him on many races and he was my favorite “caller” when I raced…

Louie was of the nicest guys I ever met.. he even laughed it off at one race when he was doing very well in points, and by my bad pitman-ship, I ended up throwing the boat in upside down… 😖😖😖

It’s truly an honor for me to own his “ Squire Shop” scale..
